bluebell 418
The wet day did not dampen the spirits of all Canine lovers,as all roads led to the 32 County Champion of Champions held by the North West Lurcher,Terrier and Whippet Club. The venue was Barron Top Fun Farm, Strabane, Co Tyrone and was held on Saturday 11th September. Barron Top Farm is set on top of the magnificent hills of Co Tyrone over looking the thriving town of Strabane. The views from Barron Top across the valley of Tyrone/ Londonderry is and always will be etched in my memeory for the rest of my days. A fantastic place for a Dog show, as it provides a unique combination of activities for the children in a safe environment, while the adults can relax and enjoy the dog showing at its best. The showing commenced at 1.30pm under the supervision of the efficent and caring committe members Joe Boggs/Terry Moore/ and Barry. Congratulations to the Whippet /Lurcher and Terrier and Puppy winners. Ann Forsythe and Eamon Feeley came up triumphs with their winning Puppy Jet winning the Puppy Championship. A big well done Ann and Eamon. In the 32 County Champion of Champions Lurcher Winner, Fiona Devlin did the women proud again, winning this prestigeous title with " Maverick. Maverick is a great showman, and never lets Fiona down. The 32 County Champion of Champions Terriers was one by the Little Black Terrier owned by his proud owner John Heaslip. That little dog was my favourite of the day. The way that dog stands is just a treat, and I am fully convinced enjoys every moment of the glory, excellent showing John, and a very well deserved winner. Lady luck was really following John all day as he won 2 or 3 bags of meal in the draw aslo. Definately your day John. And last but not least, the gentleman who won the 32 County Champion of Champions with his beatiful Whippet. What a real nice Whippet . I am sorry I did not get your name, you have a beautiful dog and a real winner there . Congratulations well done. Congratulations to our good friends Mickey Quinn and his son Michael. Mickey won won the working class with his excellent working Whippet, and also Reserve Champion, and Michael got a first in his class with his winning lurcher. Well done you two. It must be them lovely buns Mrs Quinn is baking. Mickey you are a big gorb, he only left one for me Mrs Quinn. I know you meant I was to get more than one. A great winning combination you two. Rose Mc Coy, always a winner. Rose won her class with her beautiful fawn lurcher. Rose,Also what a beautiful dog and a winning handler. Well done Rose. Bluebell is real proud of you. Rose is Bluebells daughter. Congratulations to all the show class winners. Also another great days racing was held at Barron Top Dog Show. Congratulations to the Terrier winner, a great wee racer, Sorry dident get your name. Lurcher Winner unders, Kieran with Mitch, a great wee showman. I had the honour to stand in the ring with him at the showing, and he is a real we gentleman. Well done Kieran. Lurchers overs was won by Sukie, owned by Janet Young. You will never know how much this meant to this lady having her dog win this race. Janet well deserved, Sukie will never let you down. I am sure the celebrations are still going on. And what more can I say about the Whippet racing. Eddie and Liz Mc Kinistry, you both must be proud owners today of Buddy and Cody. What a win. Them 2 Whippets are in a class of their own. It must be nice to day Eddie and Liz to be able to say your 2 Whippets Buddy and Cody won in the 32 County racing Champion of Champions for Whippets. Well done Eddie and Liz And finally, although at times the rain came down pretty heavy, " Bluebell " our resident photographer at all the dog shows , managed to get the camera out through thick and thin and take wonderful photographs on such a memorable occassion. You must of been a tired wee bunny last night Deidre, because everywhere I saw you, you were clicking that camera. Look forward to see them up soon. Well done Bluebell. A big thank you to all the judges who did a magnificent job on the day, and to the people who made it all happen, and what a remit that was. Terry, Joe and Barry and all your excellent helpers thanks for a great show. I must not forget The owner of Barron Top George Mc Garrigle for his courtesy, kindness and help shown to everybody at the show. George, sorry we did eventually make it over for the our bowl of stew, but were too late , the shop was closed. I know you never forget to hold them over for us, but there was so much activity going on in our camp, the time just flew by. Thanks again George. Well sadly folks, I presume we are coming to the end of the season for the open shows, but I must say we are 25 years keeping dogs, and 15 years going to dog shows, and I can honestly say with hand on heart, this year has been the best year of our lifes at dog shows. We have met old friends and made quite a few new ones, had a few big wins with our Whippets and Lurchers, and had so many happy times along the way. Already looking forward to next year already if the good Lord spares us. Margaret Mc Stay Lovely write up as always Margaret A few pis i took to cover the day sorry im a bit late with them...
