BIGASH 2 Posted September 14, 2010 Report Share Posted September 14, 2010 I have just got myself a big chicken coop with a court area in it anyway it was free if i cleaned it the person who had it last told me it was full of red mite so i steam cleaned it and spayed it to hell with this mite spay it ok now still a few mites only about ten or something like that and i was just woundering if the red mites afected ferrets because it will make a lovley ferret court as it is nice and big advice needed please. thanks BIGASH Quote Link to post

tjones3862 3,423 Posted September 15, 2010 Report Share Posted September 15, 2010 hi all to get rid of red mite you need van-vermine-ex 11500 you can get it from www.hbeattie.co.uk this stuff does work if i use it today all mites are dead tomorrow it dont harm your chickens etc ( dont use it on avery birds like canaries, finchs etc ) this is used for pigeons ,its about £ 10.00 a bottle feel free to pm me for any advice atb tj Quote Link to post
stubby 175 Posted September 16, 2010 Report Share Posted September 16, 2010 be careful about using jeyes fluid around ferrets, its a killer yes, red mite will feed off a ferret, as stated, if you'vre seen ten, there's probably another few hundred under felt, all joints of wood etc Quote Link to post
bunnys 1,228 Posted September 16, 2010 Report Share Posted September 16, 2010 red mite need an avian host to reproduce they feed then go and lay there eggs in the cracks of the timbers theres lots of things that kill mite mitex bleach just a touch in a gallon of water this breaks down the waxy outer coating on the mite and they suffocate and ya can one spotya ferrits as a precaution Quote Link to post
