dew claws

yeah mate i think that is the case coz the vet said it only has 1 knacker poor lil thing hasnt had the best start the dog is 3 to 4 mounth old now i got it of a fella who has just moved in down the street the land lord said that he wasnt aloud it so it was free but i gave him 20 dabs just to be kind the dog is a lil corker minus the 1 knaker and 4 dew clas on the back but will get it sortred in 4 weeks [bANNED TEXT] the dog settles in

yeah the one knacker job is genetic fault ..if the ball is retained inside the dog they do recomend removal. due to the possibility of cancer! some vets recomend full castration not sure that is neccessry ...but really you shouldnt breed from him as the trait will be passed on !! ;)

Rear dew claws are a result of extreme in breeding. They can be removed easily at two days old. In my opinion they will not cause your dog any problem. Sometimes they cause trouble for running dogs or hounds. However they can aide terriers when there pushing. I think a lot of men working rocks always leave front dew claws on for extra grip. I would leave well alone unless they cause the dog trouble.

i leave the dew claws on my terriers imo they do aid the dogs but on the rear they tend to be floppy and can snag up. As for the knackers i thaut my terrier had a retained one after speaking to the vet i decided if he got to 12 months and the other hadnt dropped then id have them removed, i checked him regular but nothing then bang on 12 months on his final check there they where both little knackers i was well chuffed so dont write him off yet.
