skycat 6,174
Herbivore shit is full of essential minerals and trace elements: maybe the dog isn't getting all it needs in its diet? As for rolling in it: I reckon they see it as perfume LOL

The one 8,512
Could be a sign somethings lacking in there diet ?
tote 856
Heard it said before that there must be something lacking in their diet, personally I think that's a lot of sh!t [pardon the pun]. I've had numerous dogs in the kennels at the same time, all fed the same yet some eat and roll in sh!t and some don't. I just think the ones that do are dirty b:censored: ds. bert the fert 28
As far as i know, dogs will roll in shite/carrion to disguise their own scent. It's a hunting instinct, generally more prevalent in bitches than dogs.

Mine tend not to do it after the first time, because I give them a short, sharp whip over the muzzle with my crop. Edited September 14, 2010 by Buttermilk
Attack Fell Terrier 864
I let my terrier's off the lead only to find them both rolling around in a dead cat that had been there for weeks. The stink was out of this world, The little f*ckers were loving it! Took some time to get rid of the smell as well, bloody awful it was.

slsteele 1
Dogs are naturally opportunist eaters, Horse/Cow/Sheep/Rabbit sh*t is full of well processed fibre that is good for dogs as they do not digest it well first hand so to speak. It doesn't necessarily mean their diet is lacking, but they aren't going to miss they chance of a free meal! As for rolling in it, one theory goes it's to disguise there own scent from their prey with the prey's own scent in order to get close up undetected, the other is that a dog is sharing the scent of their catch/meal with the rest of the pack.......either way its natural behaviour, just teach em to leave it if it bothers you that much.....
