Sorry could nt resist :tongue2: are the holes under both hedges obviously not connected? Have you considered cutting the hedge back with secateurs to get a stop net through and over the water? Is it the length of the whole hedge or just part way along it?

Or a gun at each side no walking near the burrow just pop the ferrets in and stand back

VERY often up the inside of a hedge you have a run, almost tunnel like. set a big purse net on these runs, either side of the burrow you can youse the hedge to gently suspend the net or use a couple of sticks a bit like a long net. poke nets are good for this.

i do some hedges that sound like yours and this is what i do, somtimes just these 2 nets on a 10 or 15 holer what comes in the field the dog catches

 Poke nets  f*****g handy things. I've also set stop nets at a right angle to the hedge and put a big peiece of sacking or something in the hedge just before it in the run - the rabbits run down, see something foreign (i've used my jacket) and break out and try to run a long hedge - straight into the stop nets.

Or use a shot gun.
