molly's first day out

Recommended Posts

finally got out with molly and the ferrets today,i have had 3 small warrens picked out for this day,so at 11.00am this morning i got to my permission with one of my hobs,longnet,12 purse nets and molly, first warren i had picked out was a big sloe bush surrounded by long grass which had 5 holes, set up the longnet around it,while i was doing this molly ran into the net twice rolleye-smiley-003.gifbut she quickly learned to jump over it,after giving 10 mins to settle i entered my hob, molly at this stage was watching calmly, after about 5 mins my hob popped back out again,an empty warren, onto the other warren that i had selected, again there was a bit of cover,a big bramble bush which was guarding 6 holes, again surrounding it with the longnet, entered my hob, this time molly was showing a keen interest,2 mins later we had a rabbit caught in the net,the opposite side of the bush to where molly was,so i gave her a whistle and she came round, seeing the rabbit she went over to it wagging her tale all happy th_floor-laughing-smiley.gif(think she thought it was the ferret)as soon as the rabbit struggled she was on it like flash thumb_up.gifthe next warren was on the way back and was a handy wee one,3 holes with very little cover,3 purse nets set, entered my hob,who is now on his 2nd season, this was a big warren as 5 mins later there was alot of noise which was coming from about 20ft out into the field, molly was going from hole to hole at this stage following the thumping noises, all went quiet for 2 mins, then another rabbit bolts into the net, again molly was onto it,the rabbit screaming, but she still held on thumb_up.gif2 rabbits in the bag,on the way back i couldn't resist trying another handy wee one, this time there were 5 holes with very little cover, set the purse nets, again entered my hob, less than a minute later, another rabbit bolts to the net, this time molly is onto it and my hob is onto as well biggrin.gifall in all had a good 2 hrs,and was well pleased with molly, she done better than i expected,cheers......john post-46184-041071300 1284313089_thumb.jpgpost-46184-061131300 1284313124_thumb.jpgpost-46184-029462700 1284313221_thumb.jpgpost-46184-089743300 1284313282_thumb.jpg
