caspa 2 Posted September 12, 2010 Report Share Posted September 12, 2010 i havent been coursing everyware in my time but i have been most places,and one place i will not forget is bury ,st edmunds,a place there caled rushbrook.well me and a frend just happen to come across it as you do,lol. and the people that have been coursing in bury,will tell you its not fenland,the fields are not huge.well we walked about 20 yards in this firs field,was a stuble and there must have been 100 hares in 1 field most i have ever seen in such a small field,iff i remember it took us about half hour to get the dogs back and we onley got them beacouse they calapsed in the end.wats the most hares you have seen in one place???????? How many did you catch then in this 30mins or so when your dogs were running hares which must have been tripping up over each other? the most i have seen on one moor is about 18 and that was keepered.....so no one could get at them..... The week after the farmer phoned me complaining that we werent doing a good enough job and would we go back down to do it again as the field was absoloutly destroyed. We went the next day and killed another 2 rabbits which was unbelievable as the field was half ploughed with scrats and seats etc. After talking the farmer into letting me lamp it with my dogs we decided to stay the night. The first field i put my lamp on i counted 36 hares and that was in a field around an acre and a half, i have never seen as many before and probably will never see the like again Quote Link to post

pikesta 54 Posted September 12, 2010 Report Share Posted September 12, 2010 a good friend of mine who lives near peterboro was on the phone to me last season, he told me he'd seen a 100 or so hares in 1 field on the lamp!! he said next time your up ill show you.... a week or so later a arived and of lampin we went. pulled up at field and he said watch this. put the lamp on and my jaw dropped!! id neva seen so many hares in my life, even my dad was took back and hes been at it for 40yrs. atleast 100 if not more. jus sat there for 5 mins watchin them. drove past in the day and cudnt see 1. there is alot of cover and my friend told me they dont shoot on that peice of land. wonder how many will be there this season.
