I know this is me being thick ,but if i dont ask i wont know.

Just bought myself a finder (mk3) and it dont seem to do anything on the Locate option.On search it goes mental with plenty of flashing and noise but nothing on Locate.

Would be helpful if anyone can keep it simple (like me) and explain it please

it should beep on locate at around 8 foot or below, make sure that the pin pointer is in the center, when it's on locate mode, move to the highest pitch to find the collar...get someone to hide the collar in your house and practice trying to find it, if the locator is right up to the collar and it is makes no sound and the pin pointer is in the center and it's on locate mode then there is something wrong with the finder...hope this helps..at least it worked for me

Trade it in for a B & f mate they are dead easy to use and very accurate.

Got one myself... the beeping will do your tits in. Don't have 100% confidence in it.. but every time i've dug i've dropped bang on the dog so that's all that matters really. It does get easier with practice. It should work exactly the same on locate as it does in search but over a shorter distance, if it's not send it back.

Know B+F's are the best but you'd think in this day and age that you could get a collar the size of a pea the worked for hundreds of yards, and had a radar type screen that showed the tunnel network and everything.. or would that take away half the fun???

I bought one of those humminbird fish finders from a fishing show last week. You cast out a little 'boat' and it sends a signal to a watch that shows the layout of the bottom, depth, water temp and even fish... fifty quid!! can't be much harder to find a terrier?

it wont be long to we will have technology that will tell us what is in an earth with out the use of a terrier, it wont be much fun though but im sure it will have its uses... in australia i read that they have a 'game finder' that can track game animals from 1000 yards away... its supposed to give you an idea of its description too....

It's a mark III... sixteen foot on search and eight on locate... they're counted in penis inches though i rekon.. eight foot on the box is really about six.. Jody

i noticed on ebay the mark one has shot up in value quite a bit??? i bought mine about 5 years ago brand new and it was £50... now they are second hand for that price

ive never had a problem, in fact i thinc its simple! it might not be working at all if you cant get it to bleep on locate!? as for the annoyingly loud bleeps, just stick some electrical tape over some of the holes!!
