bert the fert 28
To be honest, one million pounds isn't a massive amount to live on for the rest of your life...I think you'd need to be a multi millionnaire in order to give up work and live comfortably. dont be daft, the interestc is nearly a 900 quid a week.... Hmmmm.....so that would be at a 5% base rate....which would mean you'd 'pay' yourself a salary of around £50,000 (tax free) pa. Very nice, but you wouldn't be 'uber' rich...and if you stopped working, wouldn't have any salary coming in. 50 grand a year is mega bucks to me I'm making the brass really stretch at the mo, cos my hubby got his arm crushed at work a few months ago so we're managing on his SSP quid a week and my wage as a carer. I count meself as an olympic standard plate spinner now

Oh, it's okay, don't be disconcerted....I can live off £50,000 pa..... never said otherwise. Surely one can (in your words) "catch more game, be happy AND have a big fcuk off Ferrari" ?? Afterall...you have your big shed. P.S.I have an elderly, rather mud-splattered Volvo estate incase you're wondering....not very 'rich dude-ish'....but incredibly practical for dogs, riding gear et alia.... ............. ............. .... .... bert the fert 28
Oh dear...is he okay? Will his arm get back to normal once it's healed? No. It was forced into a 20mm gap by 27 tons, so the damage was so severe they nearly lost the arm. He's got partial use of his hand back but whether it's sufficient to allow him to do his job, only time will tell. His boss is so desperate to see him back at work, he's persuaded hubby to try three days next week. The physio's and occupational therapists were talking in terms of him trying to work sometime after christmas..... so going back next week seems a bit optimistic to me. I do hope it works out for him....your husband must be a very valued member of the team if his boss is so keen to get him back to work. I suppose if he tries the 3 days and see how he feels....let us know. I'll be thinking about you.x

I bet if you put up a poll on here, over 90% of us would be very happy earning that amount and have time to hunt as well...

Come on now, don't be defensive about your shed....it looks lovely. And I agree, I'm sure most people would be very happy to earn that amount..... but you stated in your earlier post that "I was trying to make out I was some kind of rich dude" because I suggested that living off £50,000 interest pa didn't make one 'uber rich'. Do you understand now...? Read it all again carefully and I'm sure you'll get it.... Edited September 12, 2010 by Buttermilk
longdogbow 12
50K a year is me done.thats well over twice my salary. time is the only thing i want.my time.just to roll over in the morning scratch me knackers and think right today im going to do this.ive got enough interests hobbies and more i would like to persue.plus work i can do for my self.i wouldnt have time to be bored.im sure the wife my two lads and two grand daughters would spend it for me.but i would be happy getting back from a early morning out with the dogs and pulling on me overalls and tinkering in the workshop.nice big old armchair in the corner for my afternoon power naps listening to radio 2.
