ROBERTO M 350
I have ran hares from just outside london to Perth , with fen bred dogs and to be honest the further north we went the dogs made easy work of the hares , even the dogs that couldnt hack the big land killed plenty hares once over the border !! A good dog will kill hares any were , thats a fact ! So from what you say a fen bred dog is more suited to run the further north you go??? That's got to be the biggest load of pish I've ever had the misfortune of reading.... What im saying is the hare arnt as good over the Border , iv ran them , wer have you run ,im speaking from personal experiance not second hand information ! Quote Link to post

Ran them in Scotland from Caithness to Jedburgh.... I know you guys think you are the only ones that have done anything but I can assure you, your wrang. I stay close to Inverness and have enough " experience" to know you can't label a whole country as to how good there hares are. What makes you think the engerlish hare is harder to catch? Well said mate. We both know the fen dogs wouldn't catch a crisp poke on some of the land up here... They like to give it large they would and their dogs are the best of the best.... anyone who runs up here knows our hares aren't as easy as they make out and their dogs aren't as good as they make out...... But, if they didn't say they were, they couldn't sell the puppies for all that money..... Edited September 12, 2010 by feed the bear Quote Link to post

But, if they didn't say they were, they couldn't sell the puppies for all that money..... no, now lets not get personnal, we all know that there are some briliant dogs has been and nows that ran and run the fens... I would have loved to have had a few out of the lines..Purely to see some of the speed demons at work on the flat fields...And at times, some of the best dogs in the country are present on the fens.. As for the hare being slower in scotland, who thinks this and why? Have they ran there dogs on real wild mountain hares, no, again they would end up in the vets! like keano just said, a hare in carlisle and a hare in lockerbie is exactly the same hare, just speaks with a different twang! come on lads... really this should be about terrain....and, good bred dogs for different ground.. we were running the dogs yesterday on some land just short of cumbria, and beleive me adog of over 26" would have been neither use nor aurniment, i didnt say it wouldnt have caught, but it would missed more... You keep mentioning perth as if it is in the highlands.... Its about 100 miles south of me but you reckon your a know all and a spokesman of the qualities of the Scottish hare!!! I've told you where I have run hares, I ain't about to give you specific landowners if that is what you want. I have also run in england on decent hares, never thought at the time they were special mind you.... or maybe I ain't as small minded as you and generalise a whole country on the basis of a couple of runs...... I don't doubt you have run hares for years; I think you will find it is you who thinks they are the oracle of the hare world and your word is the last word but I'm afraid not..... Now, you say a fen dog will catch anywhere or was that your boyfriend? Canny mind, your all as pendanic as each other.... I KNOW your fen dogs wouldn't catch hares all over Scotland and if you'd like me to prove it and make an arse of your dogs at the same time.... let me know Quote Link to post
