for me its got to be the method feeder saying that had nine tench on the pole using pellet last night... john

Grated cheese mild chedder and red leicester mixed together in a 2oz feeder and a good size squashed ball on the hook for carp, for pike live crucian carp when it was allowed they go all night and day.

nice time of the year for it now too, the rivers round here are looking in good nick had a bit of rain so they're just right for running a stick through. Chub are probably my favourite too but like catching big autumn/winter roach as well.

How about sticking 14.5 metres of pole under a overhanging bramble bush on the far side of the canal into 18 inches of water. A 3x8 float dotted right down, on 0.8 mainline to 0.5 hooklength, with a single Joker on an Au Lion d'Or size 28 hook. Catching blade Roach without getting tangled once, and winning the section in the Winter League..............Or you could always chuck out a Method.

yeah usually drawing the worst peg in the worst section freezing your nuts off all day for f*ck all.

I did used to enjoy match fishing, i aint fished one for a while but might fish a couple on the tidal exe before the real cold sets in.

wouldn't fish a match on a commercial though not my thing ( i've fished since i was 6, 27 years, and never used a method feeder), take my lad to a local pond for some carp bashing occasionally though.

Soon be time for the Bloodworm and Joker to come into it's own. Had some good days fishing with that.

we aint got the type of canals that suit that type of fishing down here the exter canal is averagely 25-30m wide and 12-14ft deep!! i aint fished a winter match on there for years but it was always grounbait feeder for bream and skimmers that would win the matches.

We would fish the taunton and bridgewater canal with bread punch (i never done too well at this) in hind sight i think bloodworm and joker would've worked on there as its a more traditional cut type canal.

To be honest i would spend all my time on the river thats my favourite for sure.
