Do you know your dog,s weight

This morning i was looking at my 10 month old pup,

and wanted to find out how much he weighs

So i Googled dog scales,But they are £200 upwards

and i cant afford that at the moment, so what i done is

i weighed myself on my own set of scales, and took the reading

then i picked my dog up and then weighed myself again holding my dog

by adding the extra kilos from my first reading i worked out my dog weighs 33lb..

 

The reason i am sharing this information is the only time my pup has been weighed

is when he had his jabs, and when i get flea and worming treatment..

But i cant keep going to my vet just to weigh my dog,

i think the digital scales would be better for this as the other type with the wheel

that turns, waiver about to much..

Just thought it would be handy to know your dogs best running weight

and the bathroom scales are always at hand..

If your not familiar with kilograms, like me, you can google how many lbs in whatever amount

of kilos IE.. HOW MANY POUNDS IN 12 KG and you get the result in lbs

yes i took my pup to have its first injection last fri,,the woman in the vet did it this way,,she was a right fat twat..lol..if she does it when my pups older and fatter the scales will break i reackon...lmfao

1kg = 2.2lbs so your dogs 26.4lbs

why had the weight,? i do the same but just the dog to my weight. I am 13st, my dog is 60lb = 17st 4lb. easy

A lot of digital scales now have kg on them,

ive always weighed my dogs at home useing the scales

mine does lb's kg and something else (cant remember)

 

you have to remember though weigh your self twice first, as the scales can sometimes lock on the wrong weight,

if you get two different readings, do it again.

 

if you have a heavy dog - do becarful, as doing it this way can hurt your back

as you end up locking you back trying to hold them long enough to get a reading.

I bet 90% on this forum dont know the correct weight of their dog...Knowing the weight is an absoloute must so you can get the correct dosage for worming.....how many dogs get under dosed or over dosed must be staggering...Know your dogs weight people...For the good of its health...atb stabba

Mine only ever get weighed at the vets and that is very rare lol! Never occurs to me to weigh them i just look at body condition to determine whether they need to put weight on or lose some, but one of my bitches is 26.3kg and the other 30.5kg as they went to the vets last week and that was the first time they were weighed since 2008 and they were pretty much the same weight back then!

 

Oh and worming and fleeing is easy as they are definately heavier than 20kg and lighter than 40kg which is the weight requirements for the dosage they need!

my dog is 27.5kg which is around the 60lb mark ,he looks lighter than he is to be fair
