scottish mountain hares in danger

Recommended Posts

No disrespect to anyone but a lot of the shooting lads have no clue about dogs and a lot of the dog men don't shoot.

I shoot and I've never owned a dog myself but I grew up around Lurchers. Before the ban we used to do coursing days on the estate where I worked and watching the dogs work was pure joy. The lads and lasses that worked them had put a huge amount of time and effort into their animals and I've got big respect for all those who do.

Again, a lot of the dog folks seem to think shooting's all about walking randomly around blasting away at stuff not realiseing the skill involved with proper fieldcraft.

I know I'm generalising but it's a fair point, IMO.

Cheers.

shooters dont brag about their kills.is that what your saying? dont kid yourself mate.oh and i have no probs with shooters.but to say you have more respect for your quarry than anyone else is pretty

people who run dogs act like they own the f*cking hares is anyone stupid enough to think the sun is a non fiction paper   whats wrong with shooting them, like the ones below

the problem is that the majority of people on here see the hare as the ultimate survival expert, using speed, brains, agility and stamina to outwit and in some cases outrun its predator and imo all thes

fair doos FTB and cheers for explaining that

on another point gamekeepers will gladly shoot hundreds of hares, but go f*****g apeshit and call in cops and be heavy handed over some lads taking them with dogs (pre ban),

now who thinks the hare exclusively belongs to them.as said dont have a gripe with shooters just a point.oh and i dont think they go blasting everything in site but some do think they are better than the rest of us.and the countryside is exclusively for them and all quarry on it.

I know loads of keepers who let dog lads on(including my brother), their only gripe is when they go places they shouldn't and take game they shouldn't.

There are loads of keepers who run dogs and dig, but saying that there are loads of old timers aswell who have a zero tolerance policy.

I have a strong hatred of the dog lads vs shooters vibe that is aparent throughout this forum.

As when shit hits the fan and were all still bickering it will be too late.
