Rabbithunter 456
any info on gill nets? obviously mesh size depends on what you want to catch......... do the need to have a small amount of slack in them, or have they to be tight? do they need to be dropped off a boat, or can you set them when the tide is out, and let the tide bring the fish in? (like you would a set - line ) Quote Link to post

whin 463
set beach nets for years and from boats , to munt them i pick up three meshes and half hitch them every 6 inches or five in every twelve inches, floats every 4 foot or floating line number 1 or two lead line ,for top nets and for bottom nets no 3 or4 leadline and a blue 6or8 mll floating line or corks every 6 to 8 foot so it sinks but still fishes etc you need calm weather for best results for top nets to much motion and your net gets full of weed etc ,there maybe a book out on makeing them all the best, you are better getting taught first hand than writing silly diagrams etc thta are hard to explain or buy a pre made net and copy it ,theres plenty in the fishermans news or look up some companies on the internet Quote Link to post
