activeviii 8
Im just trying to get into home loads as im fed up of paying silly money for ammo, going out and re-zeroing to find either the tikka doesn't like the round or i go back to shop to find they have run out and saying they cant get any more for a month or so. because of this i have been advised to start a basic home load and once i get it right i can go and buy the press and other things needed. until then i have a lee loader but i need to find a bullet that will work with the Tikka. i dont want to buy 100 bullets to find that the rifle dosnt like them and i have to go buy another 100 to try the same. has anyone any 50-52gr bullets they want to get rid of so i can give them a try even will to take 40gr is the price is right thank peeps for your time kind regards Phil. jamie g 17
hi mate i have some 50 grain tnt bullets heads you could try. they cant be posted tho as there expanding. your welcome to come and get some off me tho. i live up in worcester. bring your ticket tho so i can check to make sure you can have them. i have a tikka 222 so could give you some tips if your new to reloading. reloader 7 is very good powder for the 222 and the 50 grain tnt bullets where made for the 222. they expand superbly and make massive damage to what ever they hit. i use 40's in mine now as i like the fasty flat flying round. of course 40's dont buck the wind as good but as 222 is a good sub 200 yard rifle i dont mind that Quote Link to post
clint 45
Take you pick from chart, clik on head weight & see loads opposite. Good luck http://stevespages.com/224_5_50.html Quote Link to post
activeviii 8
i was hoping to go with something like the A-Max as i can get then posted to me but untl i t some im not going to bulk buy any. I did try some 40gr a little while ago and just couldnt get on with them, i think, if the grey matter remembers rightly, they were hornady, in a red box. any empty cases that are going beggin would be good as well. jamie... are those head the A-max ones that are in and unmarked box by any chance thanks for the link Clint. one thing, in the chart, when i click on the 222 rem it comes up with .224. is this right? Rio... thanks for the input. some one else siad to use the reloader 7 as well but in 22.5gn. think i will start light and go from there. I have a very good man who will not see me do something stupid so i should be ok Thanks guys Phil. Quote Link to post

njc110381 0
Phil - don't worry mate! I've got 52grn A-Max, Benchmark and Varget, primers etc. We could even try running some 35grn V-Max through it just for a laugh although I don't expect it will like them. Seriously, it's all sorted. Once you've knocked out a few loads you'll be able to do it with your eyes shut! It's as easy as driving to the shop and buying them! Just let me know when the loader arrives and I'll be over to sort you out with your first lesson. Quote Link to post

Top Job NJC110381. i have to go get some copper cleaner as well but wife wants garden sorted so spent the day doing some of it. i had two sunday night, shot one and then as i was taking the bush off there was one sat there watching. had to call in over the boundary but it came in the end. saw 3 more from that same spot and then two more in the next field but they wouldn't come to play. bullet straight throw both of them. as soon as i run out the ppu im not going to use soft points anymore as i had one ricochet off. midland soon so with guidance i will load up there. wife not sure if she wants to go yet but frampton this week end so might get a boys day out. thanks again Phil Quote Link to post
