Aaron_butcher 17
My first post in the air rifle section so hi . I bought a BSA scorpion t10 .22 about a month ago, took it home, zeroed it all seemed fine. started taking it lamping and was hitting rabbits in the temple at 25/30 yards and they were running off. i had a few kills but most legged it. Anyway, took it back to the shop and asked for a power test and it came out as 9.2FTLB with crosman accupell pellets. Seeing as he told me it was 11.5+ FTLB and it said 11.5 on the box i wasn't best pleased and it was sent back to BSA. I collected it yesterday, asked for another power test and this time it was 10.1. On the receipt for repairs it says they have changed the barrell and the seals and all sorts when infact all they have done is sent me a brand new gun with the same problem as the first one. The guy in the shop said it needs to be 'run in' and that power would vary until it had a few tins of pellets through it and to take it home, try it for a week then bring it back for another power check. I'm no expert but surely power shouldn't vary that much on a brand new rifle? Should I put a load of pellets through it and see in a week then send it back to BSA if its not right or just get my money back? If i spend that much money on something i expect it to work! Cheers, Aaron. Quote Link to post
george atkins ga 1
hi welcome to the hunting life. the power should not vary that much, maybe the odd pellet in a tin.i would try it out for a week even though it shouldnt make any difference as all the shots should be the same power.then if it is still under power send it back and ask for your money back and choose another make like air arms, daystate, weirache or theoben as these are normally very reliable Quote Link to post
garfield 23
pcp's need very little in the way of running in they are not like springers, take it back to be turned up or get another rifle because once your confidence in your rifle is gone it never fully returns putting that asside 10.1 is still plenty to kill rabbits at normal ranges and you will get more shots Quote Link to post
spike25blue 55
Go there buddy when I had my T10 I had the same problem I took to my local gunsmith who adjusted the power to 11.5th/lbs for me apart from that they are a cracking rifle and deadly accurate but even at 10th/lbs it should be knocking them rabbits over try a few diff pellets through it see how it goes I would give daystate rangemasters a go I use the in my HW100 and there deadly but every gun is different so try a few Hope this helps Atb rob Quote Link to post
mark81 0
If you can go direct to BSA, i had a similar problem with my ultra so took it myself to the factory i spoke to the guy and told him that i wanted it full power and to never go over the 12ft/lbs limit, he did exactly that, My ultra is a cracking gun now. a little face to face works wonders. andyz 30
Aaron I was going to suppest speak to Rob (Spike25Blue) as I know he owned one and rated it well. As everyone has already said try some different pellets for a week or so and have it re-checked. I do know what you mean about the power, you paid for a 12ft/lbs gun and thats what you want! Good luck, Andy Quote Link to post
Aaron_butcher 17
Thanks alot lads. In reply to your questions, it was sent directly to BSA but they just sent me a brand new gun with the same problems. I tryed a few different pellets, accupell, RWS superdomes, Milbro etc but it didnt up the power very much. And i can see what your saying that 10.1FTLB is enough to kill the rabbits but I see it like if i bought a brand new car and was told it can do 100MPH but it only does 70MPH, 70MPH is quick enough but i paid for a 100MPH motor, if you see what i mean. Thanks again, very helpful Quote Link to post
garfield 23
i see what your saying but new air arms rifles are being sent out at that power level set so it cant exceed the limit no matter what kind of pellet you use remember its SUB! 12ftlb not exactly 12ftlb Quote Link to post
Aaron_butcher 17
okay, can anyone reccomend some pellets that may increase the power of my rifle. Will the heavier the pellet make much of a difference? Quote Link to post
markha 99
Take it back to the shop, get gunsmith to adjust it, warranty out of wondow but your then happy? Or as previous post, drive to factory and have a face to face with the techies. Quote Link to post
aaronpigeonplucker 32
hi mate. ydeffo take it back, also you say temple are you aiming just behind the eye of the rabbit or at the base of the ear? if your aiming at the forehead there is some quite thick bone here which may cause a ricochet Quote Link to post
Aaron_butcher 17
between eye and ear. ive replaced the rimfire with this air rifle as most of my permission isnt really that suitable so do know how to shoot a rabbit. The one I had before it was sent away I zeroed in and turned the vertical adjustment round as far as it would go (upwards) and i still had to use 4 mildots at 30 yards, thats when i clocked something was wrong. where is the factory? Ta, Aaron. Quote Link to post

spike25blue 55
You say you have to use 4 Milford at 30 yds is it grouping well at 30 yards ? If so you can overcome the mil dot issue by getting different mounts for the scope Atb rob Otherwise to sort out the power issue take to you local gunsmith or ring this guy and have a chat and send to him here is the link to his website http://www.amcustomgunsmiths.com/contact.html by the way it's my father in law and he does very good work just tell him rob said to call Atb rob Quote Link to post
