cameroncharles 2
Hi all, I saw it was a lovely night last night so tried a different field for a change, glad I did cause what a nice evenings work it was. Previously had walked the land and as usual every time I go out it seems I always learn something new! I've now got the habbit of when viewing good spots to layup in its best to also get your eye down on the ground cause what seems flat whilst standing is often awful when laying prone. Got net up and waited with dog. 3 mins in and just settled when a nice 30yd bunny appeared from the hedgerow. Job done with s400 .177 and settled back down to wait. Now normally when I'm out I generally get one maybe two rabbits before that field area has done a runner, but last night I watched 3 rabbits approaching from 80/90yds away up the side of the field. 2 females and a great big old buck,it looked like he was herding his harem back to roost. We'll they settled down at 40/45 yds to munch so I went to work. Dropped old bucky without a twitch, reloaded and looked again, both rabbits still sitting there looking and old bucky having a sleep. Dropped the bigger of the 2, reloaded, I couldn't belive it when I saw the last one sitting there surrounded by sleeping mates and started to eat again. Dropped it and sent the dog out, god I thought he'd pass out from not 1, not 2 but 3 bunnies within a minute! Hope this happens alot more often! All cooking right now for a nice stew and some dog dinner! Had to call it a night then due to bad light! So I guess I've got to ask the other good forum members is this a commen thing cause I have never had such an easy evening before! Thanks Cam Quote Link to post
Phantom 631
Hey Cam, I've found the best I've done so far is 8 or 9 in less than an hour and 20 mins. However after a long layoff or on Virgin ground (not been shot for years) I shot a number of bunnies sat more or less next to each other they just looked as if to say "Oi Arry, Are you really that knackered you need a kip?" and they continue to munch. Carry on for a few days doing the same though; and they soon get the message that the sound of lead on skull and the smell of blood and brain generally means it could be their turn next Phantom Edited September 4, 2010 by Phantom Quote Link to post
