poacher3161 1,766
Too much calcium can also cause this problem one of the reasons imho its not wise to feed pups milk suppliments once weaned off. Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Hey, cheers for all the help, but it wasn't that pup. There was a pic on here on a much younger dog with f****d legs. Not sure that it belonged to anyone on here or was just a picture that was put up. Quote Link to post
collie/grey 238
Cheers for that stewie lol as i am online at the moment on a workmates laptop i will clear this up, the pup jai is on about is not my pup she has never had bent or dodgy legs because of nutrition or lack of, her front legs bowed in because she had no exersize for 8 weeks because of being caged up due to a knee cruciate ligament injury and since then her legs are as straight as can be now although her injured leg is far from normal but that's no fault of mine!! j1985 1,984
Could be knuckling, alot of breeds get it. It's when the bone and ligaments etc grows at a different rate to eachother. My AB pup had it, change the food to a cheap low grade LOW protein food to slow growing untill it sorts itself out. But I'd still go vets to be sure. Quote Link to post

Tiff 36
I fostered 3 "pit bulls" that had similar to what Silverpaws pup had ... they almost look like they are wearing flippers on their feet good food and a few weeks and they were correcting themselves, but all 3 were fed the worst of the worst food and were malnourished. Didn't silverpaws sell the pup, was given it back (unknown if she returned the money?), and then sold it again? Quote Link to post

I agree I had a whippet a few years back the breeder had given calcium suppliments and it caused no end of problems its legs my vet said to much calcium causes growth spurts causing bends in the legs came right in the end but the dog seemed slow in comparision to my other dogs .As an older dog he had problems he broke his legs seemingly very easily he had to be pts as a ten year old Quote Link to post
