FoxyWarrior 17
With all this talk of purpose made..... and leather collars, it's made me think. Who actually uses a collar, why, and do you keep them on or off at certain times? I have always used the traditional leather collar, never had one snap on me. I prefer when lamping to leave it on and hold the collar whilst walking up to the rabbit, however during the day I like to take them off, espeacially if working thick cover, as they can at times snag up. What do you prefer and why? Edited September 3, 2010 by FoxyWarrior Quote Link to post
Guest RAB.MCKAY
i always keep a collar on , dogs are easier to grab on to if some thing unexpected happens Edited September 3, 2010 by RAB.MCKAY Quote Link to post

wuyang 513
I always keep mine on, but i used to know an old bloke who would never keep a collar on his lurcher in case it snagged on a branch when working. Quote Link to post

It's not the be all and end all... Some of us have got better things to do with their dogs in the daytime rather than watching overpriced dogs chase a big rabbit round and round in circles in a big field..... Each to their own! bradaz2009 9
i keep mine on apart from in house but no people who wont leave it in case it gets caught and breaks the dogs neck but if your coursing you can get them lead collars all in one that come off when you slip it each to there own though Quote Link to post

weasle 1,119
I dont think it matters,if the collars of or on, but i do think that the width is important, why do you need a collar 3or4 inchs wide,it must restrict the movement in the neck.I have heard people say but my dog pulls, teach it not to!
