I was in my local gunshop today and having a chat with the owner, anyway he told me about someone who had put down a deposit for an expensive rifle while awaiting the grant of his FAC, only to be refused. I'd never heard of anyone being refused for a SGC or FAC before, I just know you get a 5 year ban if you've done a short stint in prison.

A little silly placing a deposit on the rifle without the grant issued and in hand.

 

There are loads of reasons why one is refused, sometimes it can be a minor problem to us but major to a police force. Bans can vary for each individual and it's case.

Hi LordGamebore my buddy had is FAC refused the FEO came they had a chat i asked my buddy how did it go he said everything is looking good next thing letter refused.

Maybe the interview didnt go that well and the FEO thought the applicant was not suitable to hold an FAC.

If you have good reason, you can have what you wish. Great country for this is UK. If you have no good reason , Why have !! FLO mus think he have good reason , also have or not.

I'd just never heard of someone being refused an FAC before. I thought you had to be a serious crim or something lol

Due to the processing time for applications, a lot of dealers are asking for money up front which will be returned if fac refused. Deposits are not uncommon here.

It's fairly unusual for an FAC to be completely refused. Usually the FEO will spot any potential problems and stop the application before it gets to the issuing office. The only real reasons why one would be refused is if the applicant has previous bad character, for instance lots of warnings for public disorder, fighting, stuff like that. The other reason is if he has lied, or forgotten to mention something on his application.

 

The chief constable has to be sure that the person is safe to own firearms. If there is violent history, or if there is dishonesty (real or apparent) in the application, that would go strongly against the applicant!

It maybe the personality of prson who apply. I no man who do post ofice robbery, he was granted f.a.c shotgun 1st application 20 years later

HaHa Ric. Not stupid enough to put a deposit down without an FAC in hand. Still in the first stages of my application.
