mk1 locators

ive been looking on ebay for a locator and have came across 2 mk1 boxes for spares or repairs. what do you all think on me buying them? will they be easy to fix?

the description says 1 is missing a wheel and the other just dont work.

i would buy one that works,you can't get spare parts for mk1 anymore,why not get in touch with the seller and ask if you can make 1 locator out of the 2,how much is he wanting for them?cheers......john

Hi mate I have a MK1 box with no collars.

Have tested it with a MK3M collar and it seems to be working fine.

Could well be interested in selling it.

Theres a couple of guys that repair mk1 boxes but the big thing is spare parts  if its not the capacitors that need replacing  but maybe these guys will buy them from you for parts if they cant fix them??

My dad mends my ones its useally just a loose conexion but if your gunna have to pay to get it repared them you may aswell buy a decent one.

well the price so far is 1pound so what you think? i could try and if not even sell them again.

Look at what the guy selling them has sold previously. You will see that he sold the identical 2 broken finders not long ago so I suspect he got a mate to bid the price up for him and pushed the price too high.

 

My father has fixed a number of finders and the only fault he can't fix is a broken wheel as we have never been able to find where to get them. Personally to me a missing wheel means it can't be fixed without canibalising another finder. Chances are the wheel has been removed to fix another finder and there is another fault with that finder.

 

Before you bid ask the seller if anyone has already attempted to fix the finders. If the answer is yes then don't bother bidding.
