hi all, i have recently got my FAC through the post and looking for a gun, but first need to know [bANNED TEXT] flb to buy. is there a guide to the power and distance?

for example a 12lb air rifle has a shooting/killing distance of around 30 to 40 feet. so wots does a 17lb, 20lb, 25lb etc... shoot at????????????

im looking at rifles of around the 22lb mark, wots the killing/shooting distance on one of these?

cheers guys ATB

Hi Tilly,

I don't have an FAC so I don't have first hand knowledge, but I would recomend having a look at Chairgun if you haven't already? (you can download it for free from: http://www.chairgun.com/ )

You can stick all of the known values of your rifle and pellet choice and it will accurately simulate the trajectory of the pellet for you. It looks a little daunting at first, but just have a play with it and you'll soon get the hang of it. It's a very useful tool to use, and quite good fun as well!

I hope this helps,

Nathan

do you not mean 30 to 40 meters mate 47 meters is my best shot so far with a 12ftp air rifle ....

can i ask why are you looking for around the 22lb mark?

Seems to me that if your going down the fac route I'd personally go for 30lb!

Hitting targets at 80yds is easy when your just blinking/checking mil dots etc but in real world conditions after a long stalk, with fading light, side wind etc its down to how good your shooting is.

Best of luck with choosing the right tool.
