rushty 1
Just wondered if anyone else has had some weird experiences whilst out shooting at night. I read in a post somewhere on here about a guy out shooting and heard something running around him in circles but he couldnt see anything, I cant find the post but I am just gonna write something that happened to me last night. While shooting rats on a small holding ( that has only rabbits , hens , ducks and geese)a weird experience had my heart thumping out of my chest. I was looking through my night scope when I heard running footsteps coming directly for me from the side. This happened so fast that I didnt have time to look to the side to see what it was and I stiffened my body in readiness for some sort of collision. As I say I didnt have time to see anything and as I stiffened my body my gun at this stage was facing the ground directly below me and as a type of warning to what ever it was i shot off a pellet in the ground hoping that the noise would stop what ever it was coming any closer, As the shot went off I closed my eyes ready for contact but whatever it was moved 90 degrees into the barn and I heard its movement and then a loud scfream as if a predator had just caught its prey. Then every thing went silent and as I composed myself I searched all over the barn through my NV scope and saw nothing. If I had been on my own I would have legged it but my son in law and shooting partner was at the other side of the holding and heard nothing. I have tried to make sense of it as a perhaps a fox or something but I am sure the fox wouldnt have ran at me like that. Sounds mad doesent it but I am not easily worried but I was last night, . Anyone got any Ideas Quote Link to post

dillan 19
depends how heavy footed it sounded and was it running through a muddy yard as it will sound louder at night, anybodies guess Anyway this prompted me to share an encounter myself. Shooting rats an a regular basis at a pig farm, I decided to record my shots, using my sony cam on nightvision attached to my scope, now bearing in mind it is quite an eery place as the rats are running and playing at the back of sheets of ply fixed to the underside of the rafters literally a few inches above my head, leaves you upturnig your collar and pulling your hat down further. You cant help feeling that one is going to use your head as a stepping stone. Any way after a good session one night I decided to go back to my car for a fag when I decided whilst Im sat there I will shoot through the passenger side with my gun rested on the half wound down window. Bearing in mind it is pitch black and I can only see through the viewfinder on the camcorder, I was concentrated really hard scanning the areas when the car started rocking side to side, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up on end as in the first half of a split second I had visions of hoards of rats getting their own back, surrounding the car trying to roll it over. In the next split second I looked up and saw in the dimness of light the buildings were moving away from me at an alarming rate, again visions took over as I saw thousands of rats carrying my vehicle away with me in it, "where are they taking me, to there leader or the pond perhaps". Any way alas it was not to be as I blinked out of my nightmare and realised I`d left the handbrake off and was rolling backwards down a bit of a slope. Funny now but at the time quite scary Quote Link to post

rushty 1
haha, minds can create the funniest things The mind is an amazing think ok. This incident that i wrote is really odd. ( quite frightening actually) . I have my own thoughts on it (i am very open minded) but as long as I live I will never state what those thoughts are on this forum , mainly cos peeps will think am nuts , and anyway if truth be known there is probs a very simple explanation, any way can anyone remember thae post made by the guy that felt something running circles around him while he was out shootong Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Years back after a new years party, a friend of mine and me were takeing her Labs for a walk first thing in the morning. We were walking along the old coach track that leads towards Harewood Castle, all tumbled down now and unloved... It was clear crisp weather, no frost, mist or wind just a lovely crisp winter morning. As we were heading back to her dad's house where we were staying right next to the estate, the dogs stopped and started growling at what seemed to be nothing, we thought there must've been a fox or something in the bush's we couldn't see. The dogs were really starting go get properly bothered and as we watched towards where the dogs were looking, this swirl of mist began to appear, like I've said, there was no wind, mist, frost or anything.... By this time the dogs were going ballistic and they're very good natured animals normally. I swear as we watched the mist swirl started to move towards us then we all freaked, me, my friend and the dogs. The hairs stood up on the back of my neck, I looked at my friend who'd gone drip white and we ran like feck back to the house. I know this sounds like a tall tale but I swear that's the way it happened. It freaked me out for a good while and the dogs wern't right for days. Funny stuff about..... Cheers. Phantom 631
I've often "Heard and Felt" things when I've been out in the cemetery very late when dark. But I've never felt really scared apart from the night I almost found myself at the bottom of a newly opened grave I just put it down to my imagination trying hard to get the better of me. I've heard similar sounds to what you described but I was in the Horse Paddock next to the cemetery, sounded like a weird kind of footsteps, I also heard a high pictched shrieking squeal and as I looked towards the fence where the noise came from, I saw an Owl taking to the sky with what was either a very young bunny or a rat. Phantom 631
:11: I was out in the cemetery last night for a couple of hours. Bopped my 1st bunny then went to sit on the bench in the new sector. I could hear panting behind me but the only thing behind me (as far as I was aware) was the conifer hedge and a deserted street. Well at that time it should have been deserted. As I moved to look under the hedge there was a sort of "Howling Bark" Don't know what kind of dog it was, but it scared the crap outta me and I think I scared it as it ran off . I didn't see the owner of the dog, so I'm guessing it was from further down the street, perhaps wandered out from one of the houses/gardens. I wouldn't say I was scared but it did forsome reason put me on edge and I began seeing shapes and shadows. The shadow I noticed most was one the size of a blackbird and kept moving, vanishing and then reapearing. Where I was sat the Conifers behind me are about 8 feet tall and directly behind that is a very bright street light. After this "Shadow" bugging me for a while I walked out of the shadow of the hedge and looked up at the light. There were a lot of moths flying around and a couple of bats were flying out of the darkness into the light, trawling up the moths as they flew, when behind the lamp their shadows were cast on the ground and of course the shadow cast was larger than the bat. That was slightly un-nerving until I realised what it was. Phantom Quote Link to post
