Going out later to get this years batch of sloe berries,

every year I make the mixture slightly different & I've never been dissapointed.

What are your favourite recipies, methods?

Do you find freezing the sloes first gives you a better end product?

Cheers

Just got me Vodka today ready for me Sloe Vodka. £30 for 4.5 litres. Tried a Sloe last night while out with the dogs, Feck me, it took the enamel off me teeth it was that sour. Gonna wait awhile, see if they get better and the juice redder.

The recipe i follow calls for flaked Almonds to be added, i never bother, just put loads of Sugar in.........And then some more.

My dad has done sloe gin with almonds but too much sugar spoils it I recon!

Wonder what it would be like with a few cloves in it? Anyone tried this??

As for eating em off the bush .............................................. DONT :whistling:

Always add 2 cinnamon sticks and 1 oz. sugar per 75ml of vodka or gin as I don,t like it too sweet, but you can always add more sugar later. Pick sloes September and you can drink sloe gin/vodka New Years Eve. That is our tradition.

anyone tried cranberries and cinnamon with vodka , set one away last christmas , fingers crossed !
