PUP EXERCISE

How far would you ROAD WALK a 10 month old pup ??

i understand his bones are still developing, he has a 2 mile walk some days,

and he will run about for the fun of it over the common most days.

what would you do, ROAD WALK him more or less

It would be nice to hear your views, he will be used for ferreting

and lamping, he is a 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy and stands 21TTS

i would give it as much miles as u can do mate but i wouldnt walk it too far on a hot day coz the dog will over heat easy in my eyes the more miles you do the more the dogs gets fit have u got any pics of the dog mate atb :thumbs:

Lol no ban and beddyLurcher I wouldn't start getting a 6 month old dog fit yet mate I would leave it till its about 8 month so it can take shape proply and fill out atb Top Lamper

i didnt mean fit, i just ment for a walk, i tek my lab about 2 miles ish would it do any harm in teking my pup along for a walk?

The more they can get out and run the better. If you have a place they can run loose their whole young lives its the best. If you cant do that then you need to simulate it. Take them somewhere safe for as many hours a day as you can and let them romp and stomp as much as they want. As they get up there in age, you can start pushin them a bit more and more. By 14 months old or there abouts a dog should be rockin and rollin.

I'd say you dont need to do much "road work". Thats just about perfect.

I'd say you dont need to do much "road work". Thats just about perfect.

nice one im planning on getting a quad so i can take him for a run when he is older, as iv got about 100 acre of pemision just behind my garden.

I meant not much road work when they are young.

 

Its obvious that an older dog that gets very "lazy" and quiet is gonna need road work or some sorta forced exercise and lots of hunting.
