R0G3R 11
Hi all, For the peeps interested in the SA Hunting Visit, I made a bad calculation error. I took the total for 4 people, divided it by 4, times 2 (if 2 only people come). Beeeeeg mistake. Travelling, catering, food, etc does not really change between 2 or 4 people. Here is the quote on the current exchange rate. I am still waiting for the quote to fly from Jhb Int to Vryburg VS driving. Also, I am trying to neg better rates. These prices again, are NOT cast in stone. 4 Days Hunting + 2 days fishing, all included as discussed in previous post: 4 people - 950 pounds ea 2 people - 1600 pounds ea 4 Days hunting with NO fishing, all included as discussed in previous post: 4 people - 800 pounds ea 2 people - 1375 pounds ea Please be patient as this is a lenghty, timely exercise. I am doing my best to give you the best at an affordable rate. I also included all pellets, air, targets, etc to all the quotes. So you dont have to bring any. If you need anything specific, you just let me know. As you can notice, coming in a group of 4 works out much cheaper per person. I appologise sincerely for my mistake. I am just glad that I picked it up this early in this process. Keep in mind, we can chop and change to suite YOUR requirements. Thanks, Roger! Quote Link to post
R0G3R 11
Oh and by 4 days, I actually mean 4 nights at the Game ranch and 2 days actually refer to 2 nights at Bloemhof dam. Roger! Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi Rog, Im a little confused now buddy . Is this for 4 people - £950ea (total price for the whole group of 4) as i first thought? I.E £950 total divided by 4 persons = £237.50ea per person for the week, and then we pay our flights and medical cover etc? Or is it £3800 ea divided by 4 persons = £950 per person and we still have to pay our own flights and medical cover which seems really high for a week mate? I was really under the impression that the price stated was for the total amount per group of 4 and then we all pay 1/4 of that price, I.E £237.50 ea. Kind regards Si Edited August 31, 2010 by zini Quote Link to post
R0G3R 11
Hi Si, In my SA Visit post I quoted 1-2 people = X amount ea & 3-4 people = X amount ea. But I did include alot of extras. I am going to refine it and post it in 30min. I added stuff like "emergency funds" and unforseen "extras". I will refine it and we will do another tally. Sorry for any confusion caused. Now, I have a question... I need to know exactly what you guys expect and would want to eat? I think I went overboard with the extras... Can I post a menu perhaps? Roger! Quote Link to post
R0G3R 11
Hi Si, I took out most extras. This is an example of the menu. Is this OK? The transport is expensive. Its 260km from me to Jhb and 485km from Jhb to Malta Ranch, from there 180km to Bloemhof dam, from Bloemhof its 320km back to Jhb. I worked on "WORST CASE SCENARIO". Once I have all the prices confirmed I will revise it again. I honestly dont want to take anyones money. Im just trying to do this right. But give me a bit more time. If we all pitch in with the making of the food etc, I can take out the catering as well. This price is for 4 nights on the game farm + 2 nights at bloemhof for 4 people: 4 people = 2600 pounds = 650 pounds ea. The menu will look something like this. Open to changes/ammendments. Breakfast: Option 1: Eggs, Bacon, toast, juice / coffee Option 2: Cereal, yogurt, juice / coffee Option 3: Omelette with mince & cheese, juice / coffee Snack on hunt: Energy bars, juice & water Snack between 11am - 2pm: Sandwiches Light lunch Crisps etc. Supper: Option 1: Braai - Steak/Chops, Boerewors, Salad, breadrolls Option 2: Braai - Kebab/chicken, Boerewors, pap & souse, breadrolls Option 3: Pasta, Salad, Breadrolls Option 4: Oxtail pot, rice, salad, breadrolls (Sunday only) Beverages: Coke, Sprite, Soda water, orange juice, breakfast punch, water, coffee, tea. Alcohol: House brands, wine, beer, ciders. Hope this is starting to look beter. Roger! Quote Link to post
R0G3R 11
I need feedback. What do you guys expect from a trip like this? Do you want to rought it? Do you want luxury? What goes, what doesnt? I think I went overboard trying to make it as comfortable as possible for the guys and gals. Speak to me people, Roger! Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi Rog, That makes more sense now buddy cheers pal. If the cost also includes all that transport and all the other stuff above thrown in, i think that the price looks good buddy. I didnt realise that the fishing spot was so far from the ranch though. Will the transport from the lake to the ranch be air con etc buddy? It may seem a picky question but for us people that are used to the cooler climates here in not so sunny Europe, a drive in the African bush in the Summer heat will just about kill us LOL. Just want to paint the full picture buddy. I think the cooking yourself is a better idea pal as its only 4 people and as long as we have the food to cook we can all chip in and make something nice. Luxary isnt needed pal, but comfastuble would be nice, ie a shower, toilet and nice bed to kip in after a hard days meer kat bashing LOL. The menu looks good for all options pal and i would be well happy with that. What would the cost be if we didnt fish pal? Si Quote Link to post

Si Hi Si, Yes the transport will be airconditioned, but you guys will be here in the winter season. BUT, it does get up to 26degrees during the day in the bushveld. I will work out something for not fishing. The options for the menu are all included. What I meant by option 1, option 2, etc is that you can choose each morning what you want to eat from the above options. If you want yogurt every morning, no probs, bacon and eggs, no probs, etc. That price does include travelling, accommodation, food, etc. I am in Jhb today (work related), tomorrow when Im back I will find out about a fishing spot closer to Malta. I opted for Bloemhof because I know the place and you always catch fish there. You will have a nice hot shower, clean accom everyday (the game farm has people cleaning and making beds daily) and a warm bed at night (after a good hunt!). Thanks for the feedback, Roger! zini 1,939
That sounds spot on buddy, ill have to try and find out the prices of the flights to SA from here. Do we need to have any injections for anything in advance say for some kind of disease that can be caught in the SA bushland? Si Quote Link to post
Nathan_R 10
Hi Roger, I am definitely interested in doing this but I'm probably not going to SA again until 2012 though so I'll get in touch nearer the time! Si, the jabs you need for SA are the usual suspects really: Typhoid, Hep A & B, Tetanus (if out of date), and possibly Rabies. I've never bothered with Rabies before because I've not been planning to come into contact with animals - it would probably be worth while getting it done before a hunting trip though! R0G3R 11
I think Nathan said it. Maybe consider the rabies shot. Other than that you will be fine. We are NOT in a Malaria zone. So that is no problem Roger! Quote Link to post
