hw100sniper 2
To be honest mate im probably biased but cant see past CZ the accuaracy is un beleivable and so easy to shoot. As for scope I cant really say about Bsa but the hawkes are generally good for daytime bunny bashing ,and my simmons is good to about 150 yds at night so all down to preference. ToMMy_UK 0
hello mate, You cant go wrong with a CZ, for there looks and performance they are pretty cheap. I would stay away form BSA scopes if it was me, just because you will get a better scope from hawke for not much more money, hope this helped. Quote Link to post
masmiffy 82
I asked the very same question to a friend. He is a gunmaker, custom varmint rifles, and worked for a very well known London house years back. His answer without hesitation was CZ American with a varmint barrel. Quote Link to post
JonathanKent 16
You could have a look at a browning t-bolt interesting action, floated barrel in a glass bedded stock. They have had really good write ups: http://www.shootinguk.co.uk/guns/462008/Browning_TBolt_rifle_review.html They also come with two 10 round mags out of the box. My local gun shop has them in composite stock brand new for £410 so as cheap if not cheaper than a CZ and its a Browning so you get a good warranty and back up. I'm in the market for a .17hmr myself and I am really thinking about the browning, plus I had a feel of it in the shop and preffered it to my .22LR cz453. Worth a look. ATB Jonno Quote Link to post
niffkin 1
Ive got a Sako quad thats fantastic its accuracy is outstanding, more expensive than a CZ but i preferred its build. But CZ are great guns pick up as many guns as possible in shop and get the one that feels right for you its personal preference. Ive got a bushnell 4200 scope fitted, sportsman gun centre were doing some great deals on Bushnell scopes. Good luck Quote Link to post
oxo 441
I asked the very same question to a friend. He is a gunmaker, custom varmint rifles, and worked for a very well known London house years back. His answer without hesitation was CZ American with a varmint barrel. They are 2 seperate models Cz American & CZ Varmint you cannot get a American with a Varmint barrel, you do not need a heavy barrel on a HMR so i would go for the American of the 2 named, if i had the choice though i would go for the Style in synthetic/nickel good or all weather. I have a .22 American, cracking rifles. Quote Link to post
JonathanKent 16
just had a look on the sportsmanguncentre website they are doing combo deals on the CZ range; gun, scope, mounts, moderator and gun slip all in for around the £400 mark depending on which rifle type you want. The scope is not that brilliant but its a bit of a bargain! I am personally still going for a browning I think but it might make your mind up! ATB Jonno Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
CZ is probably the best value for money workhorse you will ever need! Quote Link to post
chippy28 1
I've had a cz 452 american for 2 years and can't fault it. Quote Link to post

I have a .22 American, cracking rifles. The 'American' stock style is the same on the Varmint model. I think it was a hint to get away from the 'ugly' stock on the standard lux and farmer. Any how a spanking new heavy (short) barreled version was purchased at very reasonable cost! [£250 just over] Quote Link to post
njc110381 0
I think a 16" barrelled CZ American is the way to go. As someone else said, the heavy barrel is a waste of time IMO. I really rate CZ kit. It's a little rough around the edges but there aren't many people out there who've had trouble with them. I've had five of them now in various calibres and I couldn't fault any of them! Maybe the trigger is a bit poor on the rimfires but it's easily fixed with a tenner kit from Rimfire Magic! ace32 4
same here,i run the cz in .22 style.and the .17 hmr in silhouete,as acurate as any gun out there, wont let you down, put thousands of rounds through my cz .22,and getting that way for the .17,cant fault em,cracking rifles,my .22 style is my little baby, allways first choice, for the bunnies,no need for a varmint barrel, heavy as out for no benefit that i can see, well thats my two penneth worth,ok,ian Quote Link to post
Colster 1
My first rimfire was a .22LR CZ452 Silhouette in 16", when I recently bought an HMR I had a look at various guns (never got to try the Browning though) and ended up getting another Silhouette in 20". I got the 20" as for lamping from a 4x4 I still use the LR and they wanted another £50 for the shorter one. Quote Link to post
