how many ferrets to holes?

was just wondering what you all rekon to how many ferrets you would work in what size set , i.e 10 holes how many ferrets etc up to about 50 holes

All depends on the ferret and whether the rabbits are bolting I suppose. I always start by using one, then if you hear action and no bolting, chuck another one in.

A rough guide for me would be 1 ferret for every 10 holes, but it depends on how keen your ferrets are, as some 10 holers can be very deep, and there's the runaround factor, most of the time I will use a pair on a 10 holer

same here get them banged in and moving , some big sets we will have 10 or more in. no good messing around with 1 fert wandering round a 20 -30 holer

well it depends on the warrens, ferrets and whether the rabbits want to bolt, for example sometimes we have had to use 2 ferrets on a 10 holer because it was deep and the rabbits dident want to bolt and then on another occasion we have used 1 very good ferret on a 200 hole warren which was very deep but the rabbits were bolting very easy, so 1 good ferret was suffient.

depends on the sett some where we go are in stone so i just put one ferret in

as when weve used more in the past theyve trapped rabbits between them so if

its to hard to dig we just put one in

i have a very keen polecat jill who makes short work of a10 holer but anything bigger use more

Same here usually one ferret per ten holes but if the action slows down pop some more in , Place where working just now big deep sandy burrows usually six ferrets a time .Last season working a railway banking we had eighteen in . Better to add more than stand about twiddling your thumbs
