Advice needed on quickset longnet, Brian brinded model

Is there any body who could explain, or better still,

may have a diagram, on how to connect pegs back to the netting, on a quick set longnet

with the orange rubber grommet only my net which consists of 2x50yrds

is looking a bit worse for wear these days and it would be nice to have it right again

The grommets go onto the poles...just slip them over, and attach your lines by a dobule hitch in the groove of the grommet.

when you say orange rubber grommets, they sound like castration rings to me. If they are make a loop in the running line and loop it over the ring. Then simply slide the ring down the pole.

That doesn't make sense to me...If its castration bands, he needs to double hitch the line to the pole and use the band to hold the line there.

The orange grommets sound like sheep castration rings. These rings deteirate over time with uv sunlight on them. Always hang your nets in a dark place when not in use. Take two new sheep rings, place one 1" down your fibreglass pole place the other 1" up from the bottom of the pole. Take your top line form 1/2 of a clove hitch in the line, place one selvedge mesh in the middle of the clove hitch then form the other half of the clove hitch, slide the clove hitch on the top of the pole so that it touches the rubber ring, pull line tight.

Take a screw driver or something similar ( a fid is ideal- tool used by rope slicers) and slide it from the top of the pole between the ring and the pole on the knot side of the clove hitch. Stretch ring with screw driver twist rubber ring so that its like a figure of eight now and pop the loop that the screwdriver is through over the top of the pole. this will fix the line onto the pole, stopping the pole sliding bacwards and forwards on the lines. Repeat the procedure on the bottom line. Put some diluted washing up liquid onto a sponge rub some on the poles around the rubber rings, then slide lines and rubber rings to the position on the poles that you want them in. Job done. hope this helps master hunter

Hi All if ye try a clove hitch and a half hitch over it pull the lines tight then whip with insulation tape works great.give it ago and see how u get on.

same as masterhunter. only other thing i do is put them in a cup of warm soapy water as i find they stretch easier. the bottom line i put over 30mm of fishtank hose first then slide onto the fibreglass pole, wrap a few turns of electrical tape at the bottom of the pole to stop it falling off. when in in sort ground the bottom of the net slides up. just have to slide them back down when packing away, thats where the tape at the bottom come in.
