height can be a problem for rabbits only

i,e bolting rabbits ,,,,,smaller will rain supreme ,,,,,BUT lol depends on dog,,,,( with that in mind,,,,i,e cant keep down a tall dog :thumbs:

i tell u what ,,,,if a ploughed feild is in the picture ,,,,,those taller dogs are un matched at catching the quarry were the smaller dog will fail,,,,,,i,e longer leg helps,,,,,,:thumbs::thumbs:

but if i was to put up my white dog ,,,,against my taller black dog ,,,on plough or similar rougher ground ,,,,,my 25inch would win ,,,,in speed and longer stride across plough ground ,,,,,,,21inch or 25inch +,,,,,,,they are good at what they do,,,,due to the contions put in front off any dog :thumbs:

WHAT IAM TRYING TO SAY DEPENDS THE CONTIONS AND AREA U RUN ,,,SHORT OR 30INCH DOGS THEY ALL HAVE THERE PLACE,,,,WOTEVER SUITS THE OWNER OR PLACE IN CONTRY THEY HUNT OR RUN :thumbs:

I have seen Staghounds, bred for generation after generation, many never seeing a rabbit, or being allowed to look at anything other than Coyotes, catch rabbits!...i have a 31" bitch that catchs rabbits and hares, and the best rabbit/hare dog ive owned, is 29"...size has little to nothing to do with the ability to take small game, but often has a LOT to do with taking BIG game!...lol.

Not being funny but i would be more concernd about the dogs temprement than his size i know you mean well by takeing the dog on but he might prove to be a bit of an head ache if hes touchy with other dogs.atb dell

I believe it was the Terriers hitting into him? the guy was worried it would kill his terriers if left. He's now staying in a foster home with other dogs and apparently is fine.

if you look closely isnt that a tattoo on his right ear

Yeah it does, have you checked his ears mate?

Doesn't look like it. What would a Tattoo mean? that it's a pure Grey?

Thank you all for your advice, so it looks he could take Rabbits (in theory) but would be better at the

more open land?

WhipXGrey we get very little Ploughed ground around here, as they take the crops off they plough and Harrow almost same day  so it looks like a billiard table within a few days.

All of the land I go on when on my own is anything up to 10 acre grass fields for Dairy and Beef Cattle, when in the truck we drive mainly crop fields which can be anything up to 40acres.

Kye, sound good to me! it's the reason I've got three freezer now! Roo was very good at certain things but unfortunately Rabbits weren't one of them I guess. It would definitely be something I'd look for.

He's currently Fostered in Yorkshire, which is a long way from me so I can't even 'try before I buy'.

Thanks again for all your comments, I'm going to have to think this through.

Luke.

aggresion towards another smaller dog dont mean feck all as far as taking quarry goes. ;)

spot on bud, usually means the opposite, cowards on quarry that bite back
