driller killer 33
Hello! I need a lamp for lamping with my lurcher. I fancy a Culite. I run small to medium size fields in Devon. What do most people use? the CB1 or CB2? 500k candle power or 1 million candle power? I have put this on this topic as it is for running a lurcher. Cheers! Quote Link to post
NOOK/ANNA 96
Im using the 500k cp one at the minute and can't complain. And the added bonus is you get more hours out of your battery. Get the doubled bulb 1 tho handy at fences and gates. Quote Link to post
dave1372 83
If you are only in small fields the CB2 which has the 50 watt bulb should be fine. If you are going to lamping long distances then you really should go for the one with the 100 watt bulb. If you want to play safe then go for the 100 watt one first that way you won't have to worry about upgrading in the future like I am going to have to do very shortly. Quote Link to post
blackpack 70
good lamps, very tough and sturdy, but i would go for the million, as you may be lamping bigger fields in the futre. Quote Link to post
bullmastiff 615
I use the 100w. It has a fairly wide spreading beam which is variable width, which isn't great for running at distance but their bomb proof, Wiring's good, casing is tough and has taken a lot of stick. Only thing I'd recommend though is to not us the slot in handle that comes with it, awkward to use and comes off just at the wrong time! Also if your using a filter with it, tape the black rim on to the lamp, I've had it come off a few times when lifting the filter out the way for a run and it's slipped off. Not easy to find when your dogs running and may need help. Quote Link to post

driller killer 33
Thanks for the advice! If i get the 100W bulb one, the CB2, can i in the future replace the 100W bulb with a 50W if i think its too bright? or do i have to stick to a 100W bulb? Cheers! Quote Link to post

I don't see why not,so long as the bulbs are the same type fitting.Better to start with 100w & go down in size than the other way round.Just incase there is a difference in the size of the wiring used on the 100w & 50w version. Kev The CB2 uses the 50watt bulb which gives 1million candlepower, it is the Lazerlite basically. The Blazerlite uses the 100watt bulb which gives 2 million candlepower. They do make it confusing CB2 = Lazerlite without the battery basically ! You can't put a 100 watt bulb in the Lazerlite/CB2 as it will basically melt your cable and connections ( I found that out the hard way), it also damages the reflector presumably because the relflector in the Blazerlite is made to be more heat resistant. On my Lazerlite/CB2 it started to crack the relector and the reflective surface turned white ! It is easy to downgrade you bulbto a 50watt on a Blazerlite, but you can't upgrade you bulb to a 100 watt on a Lazerlite. Quote Link to post
