Time to get out

Now then you airgunners, decided to get out this afternoon before it rained again. Had some stubble on Mr Parsons I wanted to drive round before it get drilled with next years crop. I'd walked round it a couple of times with the dog to spank some wood pigeons, and every time, the dog chased the odd rabbit through the corn, so a visit was made by me and HW.

 

 

A quick scan with the bino's revealed some little brown dudes hopping in and out of the hedge chasing each other.

The wood pigeons were out in force, clearing up the corn dropped by the combine harvester, then two landed right in front of me as I was driving down the field

 

 

so the gun was rested on the wing mirror and pointed out over the bonnet, but just as the pellet left the barrel, the pigeon I chose to whack ducked, the pellet struck the soil behind them, and they were off, BUGGER! or words to that effect

 

Anyway, at least on rabbit was out and about having his cornflakes, WHACK! and that was the last cornflakes it will have for breakfast As I was trundling round the feild I could see some very good runs to set a few wires on, and also some nice new spoils that will need running through with the ferrets I thought, rubbing my hands, as you do Bunny number two came the same as the first, it hopped out, saw me, and was promptly whacked by Mr HW. picked up and cobbed into the boot, I was off again. I was just thinking it was too hot for the bunnies to be out, when bunny number three hopped out to prove me wrong, WHACK! And it was cobbed into the boot with the other. And this was how I thought the day was going to end. BUT!

 

 

BUT! on leaving the field Mr Parsons pulled into the field, I have a lot of time for this old boy, and his stories of old, and he is very quick witted for and old'un He climed out of his old land rover, and walked over, ayeup stealthy he said, I've got a problem patch, do you need to see a doctor I replied, the patch is not on me lad, its on me land. He tried to explain where it was, but I could'nt make out where the land was, so I said, I'll follow you, and you show me where it is. Well it was'nt far from where we were, but it took a long time to get there, I'm sure the old land rovers did more than 25 miles per hour On ariving at the land, this is what I saw from the road.

And right next to it.

 

 

After a quick walk round, it was apperent that this was a job for the ferrets, the warrens are surounded by trees and twigs, the cover is thick nettles.

 

 

And also this, which looks very ferrety to me, and you can see the activity around the warren

 

 

And a big rabbit hole full of droppings, dont know why its full of droppings, because they normally dump outside the warren?

 

 

And thats it for this trip.

There's a bit of everything on it, bunnies in the wood, pigeons in the trees, dont think the bunnies will last long now its fenced off, but while they do

Good read that bud,I liked the story of the pics,instead of what I do and take pics at the end .That looks some like some good land there sir ,wie some quarry variety. good luck clearing it.enjoy
