R0G3R 11
Hi guys, after a comment Zini made I started thinking, who would be seriously interested in coming to South Africa for a hunt? Its really cheap actually, and I have no problem contacting the game farm and getting good rates. It will be a blast. If there is interest, I would gladly compile something. What you can expect of the accommodation, game viewing and hunting... Quote Link to post

Nathan_R 10
Hi Roger, I would definitely be interested in shooting in South Africa. My sister-in-law lives in Johannesberg so my wife and I go to SA fairly often anyway. I've often thought about doing some shooting there but never have, so this could be a great opportunity! It's a great idea, hopefully enough people will be interested to make it viable. Thanks, Nathan Quote Link to post

R0G3R 11
I am waiting for a reply from my friend on the game farm. He will forward me the 2011 rates. Then we know exactly what we working with. I am also doing everything legit, so I am going to the local centre here regarding hunting licences etc. Its cheap, like R170 (divide by 11.34 for todays exchange rate) for the full season. Hunting season is from begin may until end aug. I am on leave from 28 May 2011 until 18 June 2011. We can accommodate 2 groups of 4 people per group in that time. For simple reasons, bring only 1 rifle. I have 4 rifles if you decide not to bring any. On the fishing part, I will supply everything. I have about 9 kits. I will keep updating this tread until I have compiled a complete list. That list I will mail to all interested parties. Zini, you will get yours first Roger! Quote Link to post

R0G3R 11
I am thinking of this place for the fishing: Sandveld Nature Reserve, Free State The Sandveld Nature ReserveRegarded as the Free State’s top birding spot, Sandveld Nature Reserve lies on the Free State side of the Bloemhof Dam roughly 200 kilometres northwest of Bloemfontein. Interestingly, the Bloemhof Dam lies where the Vaal and Vet Rivers meet, right on the border between the Free State and North West Province. All the surrounding area of the dam is proclaimed nature reserve, confusingly resulting in the Sandveld Nature Reserve on the Free State side, and the Bloemhof Dam Nature Reserve on the North West Province side of the dam. The Sandveld Nature Reserve is roughly 37 000 hectares, named after its mostly sandy soils, although there are areas of thornveld savanna and the camelthorn tree makes its presence felt throughout the reserve. For birders the main attraction is the Kalahari thornveld, which gives rise to a host of sociable weavers and occasional sightings of the pygmy falcon. But the fawn-coloured lark and the tinkling cisticola, fondly known as rooitinktinkie, are also easy to spot in the reserve especially in spring and summer; waxbills, gabar goshawks all put in an appearance, and the pied barbet is fairly common. Even white-backed vultures breed in camelthorn trees in certain parts of Sandveld. The open waters have their fair share of waterfowl - not quite that of the Barberspan Bird Sanctuary but good nonetheless. A highlight is the regular sightings, and the calls of a number of resident fish eagle pairs. Sandveld Nature Reserve is not about birds alone and white rhino, giraffe, buffalo, sable and roan antelope, buffalo, blue wildebeest, zebra and other mammals are all present in the Sandveld Nature Reserve.
