how can i make my dog leave ferrets.

Recommended Posts

when i let my 5 month old pup out with ferrets she just fllows them round then lies down and lets them climb on her.i have been leting my kit out with her since 8 weeks and the kit likes her so she does not bite the dog. now the dog goes up to all ferrets and lies down. so yesterday i let the for month old jill out with her. which bit her twice. but she still keeps going back to them. any ideas.

i would let her mate , keeps them close and stops the dog attacking one when your out. ive got two staffys and one will run as soon as she see's a ferret and the other loves to try and pick them up shes been bit loads cos the ferrets dont like her . . if they play together they will work together mate. plus if u lose ur ferret the dog can dig and save ur back lol

. thats exactly what my russell bitch is like pal, and thats definately how you want them to be with ferrets. the other ferret will get used to her mate. might have just been a playfull nip, not a proper bite. and even if it is dont worry about it, it wont hurt the dog. i would want any dog to be like that around ferrets. you will see the difference when your out in the field with them, they wont bat an eyelid at them, whereas a lot dogs that arent in regular contact with ferrets cant be trusted near them

Mate you havent got a problem

if your little dog took offence at being bitten then you would have a problem

my little bitch was bitten last weekend because we were working with borrowed ferrets it did her no harm and she is no different with our ferret hoard

My lurcher will kill rats, squirrels, rabbits etc etc she has even killed a few weasels but when she sees a ferret, she runs away. When she was big enough she used to come in the court with me. She got nipped a few times but it never turned her nasty to them.
