Fishing in the rain

Recommended Posts

Some of you may have seen my other post about fishing in the rain askin was it worth it? well the short answer is it was :boogie:

Well we were up at 6 loaded up the car with all the kit in blue skies :hmm: damn bbc promised me it would be raining at 6 :wallbash: Anyway we arrived at the fishery at 8 sharp ready for the gates to open yet again in the sun and was looking to be a good day. on talking to the fishery owner vince it had been a very quiet day sunday due to the rain so the lake i chose to fish was basically untouched for the convension :toast: then we proceeded to our chosen swims which were next to each other and set up. by 9.30 we had everything set up and it started to rain  so i went to my fathers swim and sat under the brolly with him to help him out because hes a bit newer to this than i am. at about 10.30 the rain had stopped so i went back to my swim and noticed that one of the bite indicators had fallen of the line and there was loads of slack line out then i dawned on me i had forgotten to turn on the bite alarms :wallbash::censored: the fish managed to take the rig a fair way across the lake and dump the hook  so thats run no1 missed the day carried on pretty well and at about 12 i had another run a common of about 15 lbs which i lost at the net becuase i had left the landing net half way up between the two swims and had to some how get back up there to get the net without letting any slack on the line or the barbless hook would of come out, well managed to get the landing net and the fight carried on about 2 or 3 mins longer then the line rubbed across one of the fins which caused the hook to turn in the opposite direction and it come out :censored: run no2 missed and was probably the biggest fish of the day :o so i cast back out and within 10 mins off it screemed again only this time i landed it :toast: it was a mirror of about 8 pounds but my old man had only fecked off to another part of the lake to take pictures of some ducks :censored::censored::wallbash: same story cast back out again opened up a pasty and id not even put it to my mouth and the same rod screemed off once again small common of about 4 pounds and still no fecking camera. it then calmed down again and i was sat there till about 3 in the baking swansea sun which should have been rain :whistling: but i werent complaining then about half 3 the same rod roared off again producing this little common of about 4 or 5 5 pound please excuse the long haired mug in the picture :tongue2:

All went quiet again till about 4.30 when my fathers rod went off taking this fat little mirror off about 8 pounds

Lots of other fish were taken in that 24 hours but the camera batteries run out so theres no point explaining it with no piccy's. there was about 18 runs in total landing only 13 of them?? losing 5 at the net :wallbash: All fish apart from one were caught on terry hearns source boilies :notworthy: apart from on which was taken on nash tutti frutti boilies and apart from the hour of rain on the first day the rest was sun and i burnt all while back in aberdare it pissed down all day

Cheers for looking and all the advice from the other thread
