strange how the wheaten greyhound never showed up in this poll and was the lowest in the previous poll mine are not bred for rabbit but take them quite regular there just must not be many folk useing this cross then again thats not a bad thing is it

On this site, most folk are too busy with what 'type' of lurcher they run, rather than how it performs!!

saluki grey for me too a smallish bitch would be ideal for lamping bunnys and better than a collie cross cos it would probably do all right daytime too

thats not a valid argument sorry mate.

1. lamping hasnt been about 100 years.

2. salukis werent avalible in england 100 years ago to breed lurchers.

all the boys used to use staghounds to course hares 40 years ago and know every seriouse course man owns a saluki x dog FACT.

They dont use bow and arrow anymore they use guns, times move on !

saying that there are some excellent collie crosses still about for the rabbit man.

 

suluki and suluki xz for coursing in a leauge of there own compared to other crosses!! but leave them on the open fields on the big bunnies!!!

 

lamping you need a fast thinking quick reacting tough brainy dog!! might if your lucky get a sulukix grey to be decent on the lamp but if were honest they are far bettered by other crosses during the night!!! imo

iv got a young 23 inch saluki lurcer bitch shes only been lamping a few times but she runs to squaters, retreives dummies and has carried the few rabbits shes caught almost to me which is o.k by me as many dogs mess about with there first few rabbits till the noveltys warn off. if you can get one thats sharp, steady and switched on they prove there worth as the night were on and i like them once they get the knack better than any other mysef.
