Dawn B 212
Ok then.........i wont argue cause i dont know the type of cat. But they do look fat. Do these cats get out? They dont get off my property, none of my cats do. I have inverted fencing around the top of the fence all around the garden. They have a 12ft pen and run they go in if its fine too. I just googled BSH cats and it says that weights range between 9-18 pounds.......that would make that fat cat of yours 4 pound over weight..... Thats a guide not a rule! Do you think dogs all come in the same weight if they are the same breed? Think about that! Just one of MANY pieces from the net: At maturity, a typical British male will be about 12 to 18 pounds, with the females somewhat smaller. This does vary -- some families run smaller, some larger. It does take this breed a long time to mature. Both sexes will continue to fill out and thicken up until 4 years of age. Another: The British Shorthair is a heavy, substantial breed, many weigh in excess of 20lbs at full maturity.

I chose the breed for its type and temperament, they are happy not to wander, which suits me, I keep them on my property, my responsibility.

I think thats most peoples problem with cats is the lack of owners responsibiltiy and of course the shitting in the gardens doesn't help. Not a fan of cats but it would never cross my mind to be cruel to one.

Not a fan of cats but it would never cross my mind to be cruel to one. I dont think there is any need to be deliberately cruel to anything. Cats are Cats, why punish them for being what they are? If you dont like them fine, I can appreciate anybodys opinion, but deliberate cruelty is nothing more than cowardice. I dont go shooting to injure and maim and then let the dogs rip the game up, I shoot to kill, not to cause prolonged suffering, some folk get a kick out of it though, so very sad. Nice talking to you Lab-tastic.
dogs-n-natives 1,182
Id have no problems with cats if their owners were as sensible as Dawn B and kept them on their own property, (plus I doubt Dawns would be much threat to the local songbird population !!)... but as all keepers (and others who try to preserve game, or enhance wildlife on any land) will testify, cats can be predatory Vermin of the highest order! FACT!
