tattey 7
slip her on it from a few yrds away (say 10 or so) and when she stops go wide and walk round the rabbit and walk the rabbit on to the bitch if she gets the knack when they first jump this can be very affective, but on other hand dogs that stalk are a pain in the hoop at times FCUKIN HELL MUST BE EASY TO BAD RABBITS WHERE U LIVE IF U CAN WALK AROUND RABBITS HAHA MAY ASWEL SELL YOUR DOG AND PICK THEM UP WITH YOUR HANDS Quote Link to post
toby1066 413
Does she stalk as soon as you send her, or does she run and slow down into a stalk,,did you ever try , keeping her on the slip on a squatter , giving the command but dont realise her , hold her up, for a few seconds, then when shes really pulling , run forward a couple of steps then let her off,, good advice that mate thats what i would do Quote Link to post
romany52 313
What you doing while she's stalking ? Don't just stand there, as soon as she starts to stalk, walk or jog into the rabbit and get it moving, jealousy will make her want to get there first eventually. Does she not take them out of the seat, stalking is usually a prelude to that. 1 Quote Link to post
wild rover 548
well ive got a 3 yr old saluki whippet grey x 1/4 bull grey,if she sees a sitting rabbit on the lamp she will creep up to it and wont run it until it runs, its starting to annoy me because some times i can be standing there ages, she only does it on rabbits though anything else shes right down the beam.just wondering what peoples views are on this and is it a good thing or a bad thing.is there anyway to make her stop this or will she be set in her ways at this age Try this it works well mate. scotty2306 37
i had a collie/grey that used to do this,he would run big stuff like his life depended on it but would stalk and sometimes refuse rabbits!! very frustrating, but i kept him coz the job he did he did well, never heard of a saluki or bull cross do it tho. atb shushy same here, more colliexs do it but just shows they are not the only x to do it. I think it comes from to many misses on rabbits when young. Dont think it stop now, but the lesson from it try to make sure they catch with every run on rabbits when young, if you dont think they will catch from the slip (dont slip).???? it aint that cause she aint missed that many even when young she caught alot more than she missed, surely its a good thing walking up as close as they can so they dont use unnessasary energy when going for big numbers,it just pisses you off when your standing there using all your battery power lol Quote Link to post
