Phantom 631
Decided that I had better show my face at Mrs G's AKA Bunny Land last night. I rang the doorbell and when Mrs G' answered she was soooooo pleased to see me, she thought I had vanished from the Face of the Earth as I've not been there (oficially) in a while, well it was after that cunting Antie gave me the grief about shooting and Mrs G allowing me to shoot on her land. Anyhow, she greeted me with a huge smile and told me she was glad I had come back as there were "quite a few about" She told me she had seen the Black Bunny (Linford) dead on her side Lawn next to the Cemetery , she said that it must have been attacked by the crows as she had seen them eating him and that she had seen some more black ones although they were very young! I WILL have me a black bunny or two for a nice fur hat after all, OH YES After chatting I told her where on her land I was going to be working and said I may have a full sweep across her land later if needed and that I expected to be here until around 22:00 as I had brought my lamp with me. She told me "That will be fine dear; I'll wait until ten thirty before I set the alarms and lock the gates". With that I set off down the side of the drive, where I promptly stopped dead in my tracks as I could see copious numbers of bunnies all less than 25 yards away and they hadn't seen me! Some were scraping, others were meandering around like they owned the fecking place and the youngsters were playing silly buggers jumping in the air, chasing each other and generally having a summer senior prom night I counted 15 but that may have included the sprinters and highjumpers more than once or I may have missed a couple and the total could have been higher I squeezed myself flat against the wall and dropped my bottle bag (water) to the floor and slowly unzipped my baby from her slip, removing the Glass protectors as quietly as I could. Feeling for the loose FX 16 Grain Micro-Missiles in my pocket; I fingered open the bolt and slipped her a load (no comments from you mucky gits either thank you!) slowly pushing the probe as far as I could and locking down the bolt. I normally like to check Zero before I aim at ANY living thing, but this M1MK4 scope holds its Zero like superglue holds a butt to the pan seat! I checked that both the elevation and windage turrets read Zero. This gives me a perfect 35 yards Zero. however; As there were so many of the little fluffy feckers; I needed to act fast against the scrapers and the dawdlers as just a few yards away was the cover of what I call the orchard and the many bolt holes that are under the overgrown trees and shrubs. Now Picture the scene, "Arnie doing the one arm 12 guage pump move while holding onto the young Jon Connor" Well thats SORTA what I had in mind here so a few (5 yeah; I know I'm asking a lot of myself here) pellets in my left hand, I adjusted the elevation to the point that gives me the flattest trajectory for a 3/4 inch killzone(27 yards) which gives me a PBR from 9 yards out to 30 yards (never let me down yet). So shouldered my baby and took aim on the 1st bunny right in the sweet spot, a sitter at 20 yards, didn't even think about breathing cycle and CLICK, PHUT, CRACK! Bunny rolls over waving g'bye, as the gun came down, I saw that the athletes had come to a holt and bunnies were begining to move that had been stationary. As the gun came to rest in my left hand, my right had already unbolted and cocked my baby a flick of the wrist and she was now supported in my right hand again and my thumb was rolling the next FX into position, as this was done my left hand supported the gun again as my right hand drove the bolt home and my baby was back up at my shoulder in a matter of a few seconds since last squeezing the trigger! Crosshair settled on the next bunny that was now bolt upright, trying to decide what was going on and before it could make its mind up a CLICK, PHUT, CRACK and the bunny was airborn I remember thinking "I'm on a roll here should be able to take three or four" again my baby came down and this is where it all went tits up the bolt was back and the pellet was being rolled into the loading bay when I canted the gun and the pellet rolled over and fell off the other side F k That cost me big time! I now had to relocate the next pellet from the palm of my hand to my thumb and roll it into the breech, doing so I dropped the 5th pellet but managed to get the fourth into position and locked down as the last of the bunnies was heading down to the bolt holes. The last one stopped just as my crosshair settled on the top of the head, I squeezed the trigger and Click, PHUT and CRACK the pellet flew over the head of the bunny and hit a fence post a few yards behind Guess thats the price you pay for trying to reload, aim and shoot in seconds manually. DAMN it I really do need a ten shot conversion!!!! Still two perfectly executed Kills in less than about 40 second in all that carnage can't be bad eh? I'm guessing I could have had 4 or 5 if I'd had the 10 shot magazine! Anyway's I walked over and picked up the kills and moved over to my chosen sniping spot for the night. And here I am just before my next unsuspecting victim pops out at 21 yards, 20 minutes later. This is what I mean by an optimized trajectory for a 3/4 inch killzone Place the crosshair in the killzone squeeze the trigger and look at the deformation of the skull Surgical shot placement. I knew it was a clinical switch off as the cheeky fecker gave me the "V" with its hind leg as it stretched out as a final salute. Thats 4 shots 3 kills! Talk about stress relief The 4th one popped out about 45 minutes later; she was accompanied by a younger one perhaps 1/2 grown I knew she was withing the PBR so I squeezed off another, she wouldn't give me a sweet side on shot, so she caught the 16 grains in the corner of her eye and brought it to a slow stop using the back of the brain and the back of her skull. Needless to say the younger one droped back down the hole they had just exited a minute or so before This is on par with what I remeber sex to be like; well I think I remember those Halcyon days As the light began to fade the moon was full and I figured if I stayed put where I was, I may still get a a couple more before I called it a night. Then sure enough out from the same warren entrance as the last one out pops another. It was almost dark so I had the IR set to 3 and could see by the road lights behind me where I needed to place the red cross. Sweet as a nut, bunny does a barrel roll to its left and quickly brings its legs together. The final shot of the night came at precisely 21:00 hours I know this because I saw the shadow of this big old buck comming from my left (all the others had exited out of two warren holes directly in front of me). At first I wasn't sure until a Large HGV passing on the A63 light it up as a silhouette. It was dark now and I had the IR on. Placing the crosshair in the direction of the head then a quick flick of the UltraFire as my watch chimed 21:00 and a tiny adjustment finished with the sweet sound of CLICK, PHUT and a massive CRACK Bunny number six rolled over with not even a wave! Misserable git Battery in the phone going down I took the final pic of the night I bagged the quarry and made my way home where I began to prepare the meat for the ferrets and the two largest of the group I cleaned so I can give them to Mrs G' as she does like a wabbit or two and its only fair aint it? Total shots for the night 7 Body count 6 plus the 14 in total from three of the does (prevention is better than the cure aparently) Soooo All in all a pretty decent night, not really challenging, but I did enjoy just cleaning up the place a bit for the old dear. I'll have to spend more time there actually; as the front lawn is going the same way as the rear and there aint exactly much of that left, its just a greyish soil and sand mixture now. If I don't begin getting some quality results there fast,; I'm convinced that the only way to win this particular war is going to be with a small stategically placed nuclear device If the weather had been better, I no doubt would have had similar results in a few hours on the rear side lawn, but I think when winter comes, I'll have my two lil helpers to give me a hand Here they are Phantom Edited August 23, 2010 by Phantom 9 Quote Link to post

dillan 19
Shame, you have a style of writing that captures the moments alot of us experience but cant relay it. You could write aid memoirs, you never know you could end up writing a best seller and retire on it, after all thats what other authers do. Alternatively buddy up with Zinni and do the narrating on what he`s thinking on his dvd`s, could be interesting. Keep em coming Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
Cheers Bud; Can't really miss at those ranges with an optimized trajectory, especially with it being for a reduced KZ of 3/4 inch. I just needed to show some results for the land owner and more importantly for me let off some steam a bit Its amazing how much easyer it is to pull the trigger on a bunny with a human face imagined on it (admin, we need a propper Psycho KILLER Icon please) Phantom Quote Link to post
