markha 99
Hi all, So, Im waiting for the license to arrive and now Im looking around, reading the mags and trying to weigh up what to buy. Ill be shooting a mixture of clays, for practice, and also crows, pigeons for pest control and would also like to do a bit of game shooting as well. So Im after a shotty thats a good all rounder, 2nd hand or new, but my budget is no more than £650. I know this topic has probably come up loads of times before, I have had a search through the forums and red a few bits here and there, anyway, all advice greatfully received lads. Thanks Mark Quote Link to post
masmiffy 82
Basically anything which fits you well and feels comfortable! Fit more important than anything although you 'adjust' to shoot an ill fitting gun. Go to a local clay club and see if they have a selection you can try out! There is bound to be people who will help you out there, especially if they have a qualified coach!! If your using one gun for game and clays then a 12G with 28" multichoked barrels would be the way to go. Field versions tend to be a bit lighter. Personally steer clear of autos as the can be frowned upon in a 'game' shooting situation. Your bound to have other replys this is just my opinion Have a look on airgun bbs and pigeonwatch forum there are guns advertised on there as well!! One thing to remember is an expensive gun does not make a good shot!! Edited August 23, 2010 by masmiffy Quote Link to post

jackinbox99 41
Its all about personal preference. As you can see from my signature, i have a few guns. I opted for a beretta 391 semi multichoke for my first expensive gun. The fact its a jack of all trades. Ideal for anything.... clays, pigeons, crows, anything! I used to put 500 shells through it easily every weekend. You can pick them up now for £650 upwards. But, to be honest, now i find, im using a sub £100 spanish 12bore sbs fixed choke for everything. It has fixed chokes and is more designed for game shooting, but when ive taken it down the clay range and put 300 shells through it in one morning, ive had just the same results as my semi. Likewise, before that, my brother had just the same results from a £100 Baikal o/u 12bore. So its not about the gun at all, its what you get on with. If i was you, id try a few guns out if you can and see what you like the look & feel of. What suits you? For me, its all about the shooter and what you feel comfortable with. Any gun can suit any task really. Edited August 25, 2010 by jackinbox99 Quote Link to post

clint 45
For £650 you can have 1 of each, if you look. If you trendy person maybe £650 buy you 1 gun. If you more sence maybe 1 u/o -1 semi & 1 sxs , no rush try > guntrader.co.uk sasquetta /franchi/baikal/ 1/4 & 1/2 choke barrels. Quote Link to post
