mole catcher 1
was wondering how many snareman use the same type of rabbit snare as myself. I use the type where they are held in place with a hazle tealer as opposed to the methods used by GS Waters and Woodga. Im sure there isnt anything in the results gained by either method so please dont think im trying to start a wots better kind of thread,i dont wish for this to go the same way as the quickset Vs trad set longnets. I use this method as its what i know and perhaps out of my own lack of time i havnt made any of the fixed peg type. Just an idle pondering as to what type people are using around the country. Rabbithunter 456
im using the 2mm galvanised wire type tealer, both in figure four, and single strand, to suit different ground conditions. Just have to wonder mole catcher, do you use hoop snares? Quote Link to post
Guest Bigbob
Ive always used the metal 2mm tealers because one day when we where ferreting at perth the old trapper on the estate shouted me over and said he was packing up and gave me his snares ect ,this must have been 20 years ago now . Guest Fishaben
Hi, the only galvanized fence wire I could find was 4mm. And I made the single strand tealers (using woogas methods) by hand as I didnt have the right equipment. It was hard work believe me, and my hands were aching like I dont know what. I eventualy got 6 tealers made ready for use in the field. I also use fence snares and use hoop snares aswell. All from the guidance and tips of woodga, cheers woodga , Ben Quote Link to post
mole catcher 1
i havnt used hoop snares, not for rabbits anyway  i know a lot of people use the wire type and thats fine like you say as long as there catching, each to there own. I have made and used the wire tealers before, and like you said,if you havnt got the right gear to make them they can be the devils own. Im not for one moment saying my methods best as i know from exp it the trapper that holds the knowledge. Perhaps that where my problem lays, i dont have the knowledge to make them Ive got both woodgas and Gs Waters dvds and yes they are the most info packed dvds there is,perhaps i shuold watch and this time learn how to make them like i said at the start of this post, just wondered if anyone other than me still uses the hazel tealers on there snares. thanks for the replys Quote Link to post
