Ricky-N.p.p 0
It works with rabbit too, a south african lad i used to work with showed me it a couple of years back, lovely
Ossie 11
i've been trying to find instructions for making jerky for a while, nice one! next rabbit methinks ... just one problem - keeping the dog & the kitten out of the oven!
Ossie 11
found a nice roadkill roe, hung it for a few days, and now it's in the oven, (hopefully) becoming jerky. done 5 strips each of chilli, garlic, herb, pepper and plain, think i've figured out how to keep the dog & kitten out of the oven, fingers crossed it works! i will report back tomorrow with the results. (inicdentally i spent so long doing it that the fire went out... so i re-lit it, went to move a bit of wood, but the bit i got hold of was actually a nail. so i've burnt lines into my index finger & thumb. lovely "burning fingernail clippings" smell followed... i'm gonna put the fact it wasn't much worse down to my hand being freezing cold from the venision!!!) Ossie 11
through the ingenious use of string, masking tape, and a bin, i manage to keep the animals out of the oven for 8 hours, and i now have a pretty decent-sized bundle of jerky. tried a bit of each today, not keen on the garlic one, but the chilli one is damn tasty!. only one problem - i can't get the cocktail sticks out.... Yokel Matt 918
Great Its damn good stuff isn't it Like i say i ate a boat loat (two whole fillets worth) in a day and it had the same effect as a whole packet of immodium... rabbit pellets spring to mind I needed pliers to twits the sticks out Edited to say the pliers were needed to get the sticks out of the Jerky... before consumption. I agree mate can't be addes to make a box though. I think with this method you have less chance of ruining the meat. will give it a crack some day though!
