SORTED No but seriously mate, it needs stripped and fettled before someone gets hurt Maybe the sear in the trigger is worn or the spring has been pre loaded too much with washers. jasper65 6 Posted August 22, 2010 Report Share Posted August 22, 2010 BSA Mercury's have two adjustments for the trigger pull and one for the Sear, I can't remember which way round it is but if you look at the front of the trigger guard assembly you'll see a small allen screw and also one at the back, if the sear adjustment is tightend in too much this will be the cause of your problem... the best thing you and do is Number one make sure its not cocked or like another poster said "Someone will get hurt", take the gun out of the stock undoing the two frony stock screws and the large one that runs through the bottom of stock at the grip, if you can take a picture of the unit sideways on so we can take a look it would be handy, if on the other hand you have a good idea which one is the sear adjuster turn it out completly Anti clockwise... If this isn't the problem then its wear somewhere, they normally pretty hardy so I would expect it to be the sear adjustment.... Jasper Quote Link to post

As you cock the gun, the barrel should swing back another inch or so after you hear the trigger engage with the piston. If it comes to a stop as soon as you hear the trigger click, then it's got the wrong spring in or some pillock's shimmed it. As has been said though, PLEASE don't use it 'til it's sorted!!
