2nd bash with the CZ

Recommended Posts

:boogie: I love my new CZ even more than i did last week. Had another look out this morning on my new permission and had 2 in the bag in the first 5 mins a half hour before sun-up. Then went on to put another 10 in all together.

Still in 2 minds weather i prefer the eley subs or the winchesters, i ran out of eleys after an hour or so, so re-zeroed the scopes for the the winny's, although we did get a few with the winny's we did have a couple of rabbits that disappeared after rolling down a hole or flipping down it when i knew for a fact that it was stone cold dead with a perfectly placed shot. :censored:

Anyhow i was even more happier than last week and hopfully even more next week when we try a good few hours on the lamp to see what that produces, the wife thinks it's pathetic how i keep going on about the gun but thats women for you, i dont moan when she's talking about hair do's or shoes :feck:

nice bag

Im in the same boat with reguards to ammo, mates are telling me go with the winnies, as better stopping power, and have tried a few out last friday with good results, but I still prefer the eleys at the moment, dissions, dissions :hmm:

Cheers fella's, most people i speak to seem to prefer the winnies so i've just bought another 200 as the shop did'nt have eleys, i'll give them a chance before i go back to the eleys.

I'm on de-tox for a few weeks mr tea pot,not that i'm a drunk or anything it's just i now have the perfect excuse to not have a drink so i can get up bright and early on a sunday morning and do some bunny bashing  Cheers, Liam..

Nice shooting - regards the ammo I used Eley for years and always had fantastic grouping... the one down side was that they seemed to lack a bit of 'thump' for the body shots - something the winnies have a bit more of, possiblt down to the much larger hollow point. The only reason I changed was because my local shot ran out of eley and I bought 1000 Winnies.

Only thing I can say for certain... avoid CCI subs. Total shite

I used to use the winnies to great effect although it got to the stage that about 1 in 5 cases stuck in the barrel and had to be took out by knife point (which wasnt the best situation when there were some bunnies just waiting to get shot)I switched to eley's about 3 weeks ago and cant fault them.Got to agree with Local on the cci's tho actually took them back to dealer they were that bad.

Yes i've heard a few people telling me to avoid the cci's, as i've only had the rimmy for just over a week theres no hurry settling on one ammo just yet as both the eleys and the winnies have accounted for quite a few rabbits between them in the 2 outings i've had, cheers, Liam..

In the 10/22 the winchesters have the edge on ejecting although eley are cheaper here .

Although i have the 10/22, i can only use it for targets at the range i go to so i've never tried the eleys or the winnies through it, i cant use it on my permission, i might sell it and ask if i could do a one for one swap for a .17 HMR, but not just yet as i'm over the moon with the CZ for now, Liam..

Every gun/barrel will favour a particular round, but it does appear the Eley subs are quite accurate in many.

Their HP leave more than a bit to be desired though, it is small and slow to expand commonly, the Winchester and Magtech HP is enormous and peels back very well on the whole creating a massive wound channel and rapid demise of the quarry!

As Deker says, it all depends on your barrel.

My mates and the local gamekeeper told me to try Winchesters, but however much I tried I could not get consistent shots with them. When zeroing I would get 8 out of 10 in the middle of the target and regularly get two fliers. That is unacceptable to me for live quarry so I switched to Eley subs.

They are very accurate in my gun and consistent and I would rather have that than a little more stopping power.

Cheers

bit late to reply, never mind,i run a cz style .22,put thousands of rounds through her, mainly win subs, tried eleys early on,but wins do the job, mate runs his cz american on them aswell, spot on round, dont really like to body shoot :icon_eek: stuff, especially with a22,no wonder they dont have much thump (local, above)head shots all the way, dont be in too much of a hurry for a .17,enjoy the .22,i run both but the .17 is more a fun gun for us,the .22 is the real bad boy for rabbits, especially on the lamp, with being so quiet, lethal, enjoy, atb, ian
