Guest lady hunter
my old man was at work yesterday, and he picked up a load of sheep wool to throw on to the fire, but as he put his hands in to pick it up he felt somthing grip on to his finger, so got his hand out in a panic just as he felt it bite, he flicked his hand to get it off but it was holding on ,he recons it was quite aggressive , he said it was black , shiny, no markings, and the size was about 1cm, he hadnt seen one before, it wasnt a tick, there anit a lot that frightens him but that sent him white, so any ideas on what the spider could of been ? Meerihunter 7
The only uk spiders I have known to bite (enough to feel anyway) have be wolf spiders. the type you see running around the ground with egg sacks on their backs. They are not really shiny and have markings. http://www.glaucus.org.uk/Spider183.jpg Could of been something like this I have seen similar if not this particular one on sheep and deer the ones on the deer and sheep are windless and look like spider and they are blood suckers! http://aolsearch.aol.co.uk/image_browse?qu...lat%20fly&page= Edited December 7, 2006 by Meerihunter

jultaylor1972 2
My God!! I was paranoid about spiders to start with I absolutely hate the things. I got bitten off one a few years ago whilst I was cutting the border on the grass and ended up on antibiotics. My leg swelled up twice the size but the Doc said it was probably because I was allergic to it and nothing really serious. It must be something to do with climate change and all that stuff I suppose? Simoman 110
and i have heard of spiders that attack humans, actually chase them and draw blood, bieng brought in this way, i shit you not!!!!!!!! Only in sci-fi films ginge.....I've had Chile Rose and Mexican red kneed Tarantulas, they have big fangs but the venom is the same toxicity as a wasp but there is a danger of anaphlactic shock. The main problems is the hairs on the abdomen, they shed them when threatened and they are barbed and drift into your eyes, had it once and decided never to handle them again unless wearing goggles. Although they never chased me :11: Many spiders will bite if threatened but they would soon become extinct if they decided to attack an animal several thousand times their weight. The Brazilian Wandering Spider is very aggressive, I saw a documentary on them a while back, if you shoo them with a broom they will actually run up a broom handle to get at you if you piss them off.
