Im geting one for Christmas hopefully,I can live without perfect depth, as I use a probe anyway, as long as its accurate over the ferret Im ok.

Hi rew i had the same idea as you years ago about the rod rest but after the things kept bending while shoving it in the ground and getting a mouth full of soil everytime i chucked in the trent.

Agree, i tryd using a rod rest, no good

We were using a T bar, which was about 1/2 inch thick and heavy and about 4 ft long, seem to get into the ground just fine.
