gav22 24
hi all i was trying to search for a past post about maxi in rabbits but couldnt find it is it true maxi is caused by overpouplation. my fieances farm has become over run with rabbits they just seemed to appear overnight they even be sitting around the house in the morning and theres 7 fields which are full of them my question is would it be best to start a cull with the rifle an thin them out a bit or would lamping 2 or 3 nites a week be ok in bringing them under control we would normally take 15 to 25 rabbits in 3 nites. cheers Quote Link to post

matmorgan 49
mixi virus is carried by the flea.invented by a french gardener.dont think population has much to do with it.if there gunna get it then there gunna get it.alot of rabbits are making a recovery from it now and this strength will only be passed down in the genes.so get out there and have a go at em. Paul in North Lincs 15
Mixy isnt caused by population...but clearly a heavily populated area will have more casualties........Its a man made virus pass on by fleas. And during this time of year around harvest time, it rears its ugly head, and spreads like wild fire! Quote Link to post
x38 179
anybody thats goes ferriting is a culprit for the spreed of mixy (and thats not adig at the ferriting lads as i go to) it happens when you go to one lot of permission with mixy and then go to diffrent bit of permission that hasnt got mixy and then the flea transfer...... (HOT SPOTS AVOID) Quote Link to post

(HOT SPOTS AVOID) same goes for any animal that comes into contact with the infected flea.alot of animals carry the flea along distance but it only afects the rabbit. Quote Link to post
