andyz 30
I've been lookin at getting a new lamp after mine decided to dispatch itself from my bonnet last week. Anyway ready an article on Laser Genetics ND-3 Laser Designator and took a look on youtube at some reviews. They do try and class it as a cheap NV replacement, it does look like a great lamp but I wouldn't really say its a NV unit or equlivant. It is bloody expensive, I just wondered what peoples thoughts are on it? Do you think if you saw it in use from the side you'd see a green laser beam being thrown across the field??? Phantom 631
Hi Andy Suppose anything that lights up something in the dark is actually a Night Vision unit It would look pretty cool if you did see the beam from the side, especially if the locals from the pub were out for a fag after having a few bevvies you would need two people though to pull it off! Light Sabre battle in the field On a more serious note: Technically if the Unit uses LASER diodes then you would not see it from the side as LASER light is only visible in one direction until it hits the target and is reflected from it. However if it were misty, or raining, the water droplets would cause so much of the light to be defracted and you would be able to see this giving the impression of seeing the beam Phantom Quote Link to post
SEAN3513 7
i had the pleasure of testing one of these in the field a few months ago it was quite impressive........projected its green light easily out to 200m the downside was it only had a very narrow beam.........i was using it on my rimmy, but for airgun hunting out to 40-50 m max.......it would be very good, it isnt a true night vision unit.......more a very bright green laser. the night in question was very clear.....and it worked vey well for such a compact unit. is it worth the money ???.........well depends on wether £300 is a lot to you, but it is a good alternative to a decent lamp...and it is a lot more compact than an equilivent lamp. would i buy one ????..............i think i might get one for this winter. cheers sean Quote Link to post
