My poults have come on well I had a touch of hexamata in 1 batch of 1000 but 5 days on denagard and soludux cured them with no losses, thankfully my other 6 pens have needed no treatment the pen wire is lifted now so at least they have more room I have 5000 partridges coming on the 2nd of september then it wont be long till I start shooting.

I would say up till now the only real problem I have had is with buzzards this year there seems to be more of the b*****ds than ever

I have five pens four are holding great but have noticed less and less in one of them in the day, stuck around the pen this evening and watched them all coming home from the neighboring farm one field away, they have plenty of pellet in and around the pen, would it have anything to do with them not combining yet next door,

im only part time so cant get there every morning to push them back, but i am there every day after work,

any ideas out there

and yes we are loused out with buzzards aswell,

cheers b..

It can be a real pain getting the birds back once they have found a source of food they like I have had them come off roost and run straight past my feed to get to stubble pretty much the only way to stop them is to get there as often as you can and push them back it may be worth asking your neighbour if he minds you dogging them back off his land if they are coming back to you to roost then they aren't lost yet once the food source is gone if you are still pushing them hard then they should come back on the feed you could also spread some straw and grain near the pen it might just slow them down.

Mine are trying their flying technics and some are bloody good up over the pen and out, they are staying in the area of the pens a wee wander around the wood ,down the field edges and back in time for bed oh happy days.

And I also have a few buzzards in the area of the pens i seem to be geting on top off the foxes for a change .(shit i hope im not speaking to soon)

Take care Hoolit
