JonathanKent 16
A mate of mine has a tikka which I think is the same as yours, his is stainless steel? Anyway he can't get it to group properly consistentley either. We spent ages zeroing it and then took it out foxing and its all over the shop, tried re-zeoring and the zeros miles out again. He really looks after it and keeps it in a proper rigid rifle box so it doesnt get knocked about. I think it down to the scope on his, he has a Hawke scope, and personally I think that Hawkes are a load of old rubbish! Have you tried a different scope on yours? Have you tried all the simple things that could be going wrong? made sure the rings are screwed up tight etc? I hope you work it out. salukiwhippet 6
.22's don't always like a clean barrel, nor do they really need cleaning. As for the .22-250, that's a lot of shots in seemingly little time. My BSA .243 will put 2 bullets almost through the same hole, then the third to make about a 1" group, but any more than that in a string and it starts going horribly wrong. .22-250 is a hot calibre, let the barrel cool between shots. Hoolit 2
I had the same problem a while back I took the scope off the mounts ,shortened the eye relief then made sure all the mounting screws etc were tight . andy s410c 59
Zero the CZ in for 18yds & it'll be near enough spot on for 50yds...does the CZ have a trigger kit fitted as they can suffer from trigger creep which will pull the shots off at longer ranges. As for cleaning the barrel on the rimmy the general concensous is "best left dirty"...don't know about the centrefire as i don't shoot one but i'm sure you'll get some good advice on here:thumbs: Quote Link to post
willum 89
cheers chaps the rimmi is always left dirty barraled but thought while im doing 1 ill do them all shottys air rifles and then the centre and rimmi left the centre fire to call down in between loads going through am off out tonigyht so will see how it performs as for every thing being tight they are all checked on a regular basis . with a gun like this it pays to be spot on with cleaning and general maintanance . will let you all know of out come on tonights foray Quote Link to post
clint 45
only clean r/f when needs, 22-250 pull thru every 10 shot for me, or after use. check crown , some time need little polish. zero rimmy @ 20 metre, 22-250 50mm high at 100metre. alway let barrel cool after 5 shot with 22-250. all shud be good like this. Federal to me no good in any calibre, better with privvy. I sure you very experience Willum, & know what bes, with gut feel. Edited August 20, 2010 by clint Quote Link to post
murphymax 9
sounds to me as though you are flinching when you pull trigger, trouble zeroing 2 rifles, get someone else to zero it, then if its the same its the gun NOT YOU !!! Quote Link to post
danebrewer10 6
gotta say, after reading your post, and no mention of the scope, I have to say, crap scope I'm afraid, I have a walther 3-9x56 on my air rifle and that's a beast to zero even at 25m, I can't imagine what it'd be like at longer ranges! I have no problems with my S&B hungarian 6x42 on my HMR, I do think scope quality is the most important thing on the rifle, and something people sometimes overlook....... try a different scope on it and I bet it'll be fine! do you have a mod on the rifle? if you do, it it properly alligned? if it's not then the bullets may be brushing the baffles of the mod as they come out and that may be causing the inaccuracy..... dully1963 4
hi i,ve got the same gun in the same calibre and have had several other tikka,s if you have it with the plastic stock the barrel should be fully floating but going on past experience the barrel touches as it get near to the receiver which in turn knocks the barrel harmonics all to cock as it warms up sand down the stock till it floats all the way down and that should sort out the problem you should see an instant improvment hope this helps Quote Link to post
